Any pics of thirdgens with wide rear quarters

I was looking in to putting wider rear tires in back of my car and i wanted to see a car with wide rear quarters and how wide a tire you can fit. Any posts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

28x11 is what Im running. The bigger rear tires really dress the car up for some reason.

you can always go in, probably "easier" than trying to stretch the quarters. Im running 18x12 wheels and 335/30/18's ont eh rear of my car, tucked like stock. required a minitub.

Re: Any pics of thirdgens with wide rear quarters

I'm running 315s on 11" wheels while it required more than "minor" sheet metal work, I wouldn't call it major work by any means. And all under the stock quarter panels. Easier to go in than out.

Other than Neil's https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...one-phase.html (don't ask which page has a pic of them, i dunno) custom widened quarters & the fiberglass quarters from http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/ I don't know of any other widened quarters.

Thanks for the advice. Im just wondering though when you did the mini tub or modded your inner rear quarter how do you get a tire or rim that wide without hitting your lower control arms? Do you guys have any pics? Would definatly be greatly appreciated.

tubular control arms give you more clearance, and i had a set of offset arms made to clear my wheels. springs had to be changed out too for clearance. Gotta pay to play

Stephens thread is pretty comprehensive as well as informative. You'll probably need offset lca's as well.

I was able to get enough clearance by using off-the-shelf tubular LCAs with the offset bushing mounts.

If/When I go to 335s, I'll just see about getting new offset mounts made.

you dont "need" offset arms to fit an 11" wheel, but you do to keep the tire udner the car (like Stephens). Most people here with 11's have the tire flush or just outside the wheel well, which is no good in my book. Anything more than a 11" wheel requires major surgery to fit properly.

Exactly. The offset arms were due more to the 7" of backspacing than the width. If they were just 6" of backspacing but still 11" wide, I wouldn't have needed the offset LCAs nor as much wheel well cutting. That extra 1" backspacing caused extra work, but was worth every bit of it!
