It is now the factory Greenish Grey color and i want to know how much would it cost to get it painted and get the dent and mirror fixed as well. I would think that if you change the original color it will cost you a little more. Expect to pay at least $1000 if you want it to last more than a year.

i paid $3700 for my paint job. it was basically show quality. i didnt ask for it like that but i expected it for that amount of money.

now i work at that body shop with the guys who did my car.

anyways to repair the dent in the rear 1/4 panel you are probably looking about $300 just to fix the dent.
and if you do the prep work(which i dont suggest) then that would lower the cost.
a paint job becomes spectacular if and only if the whole thing is done by professionals. im not flaming anyone for doing their own prep work. but from experience. bad prep work makes for a lousy paint job.

look to spend atleast $2000 for a color change and some body work. and what is wrong with your mirror. if its busted just go to the junk yard and buy one off a car. probably like $10 then just have it painted when your car gets painted.

have fun and good luck

The shop I used to work at did very high quality work and for a complete paint job including door jambs underhood and trunk we would charge about $8000.00 which is a comparable price for high quality work here in Ca. Unfortunately, I've seen customers pay that much from other so called High Quality paint shops and have received less than that, blotchy metallic, wavy body work, swirlmarks in the buffing etc... If you just have your car sanded very well with 400 grit paper with body work done just a guesstimate since I don't know the extent of the quarter panel damage, you can get a very decent paint job (same color) done for about $5000.00. Just check out the shops work because there are a lot of bad shops around.

8 grand what a rip. listen 2000.00 to 2500.00 can get you a real good paint job. My Dad has been painting cars and managing the business for 25 years. It just depends on where you go. He worked for service king and they onece painted over a piece of eletric tape and for got to put the grill in the front bumper in the trunk. Some body men and painters are drunk half the time they are working on your car. Maybe not service king they have to much supervision to get drunk. But Ive seen it many times, dude in the back smoking a J before he paints your car. Yeah good for him bad for your car.Man I knew managers with crack addictions.

What to do before you get a paint job ask them if there are any finished paint jobs on other cars you can look at first. If they ask for 8 grand I would buy a new car before I pay for that, unless you own a exotic sports car you drive onece a year.

But hey who I to say where you go and what you spend. But if you have money to throw away

!!!!!!!!!!CAN I HAVE SOME!!!!!!!!

I paid $1400 for my paint job back in June of this year. But my car was oringinally artic white and i went to black. I had the Door jams ,engine bay, inside the trunk, underside of the hood and the trim on the T-tops painted plus the white on the stock rims where painted black, but i had a friends dad who paints fire trucks for a living do it. If you are going to change colors, have everything painted, if not it will look real cheesey. Do some research in your area on who paints good and find out about what type of paint they use, make sure it is a good reputible brand.

86FyrBrd: Holy Sh*t!!!! I didn't even realize the beat-up looking grey TA w/ the 4th gen spoiler and hood was the SAME car that yours now is! That makes the transformation even more amazing.

PS-when I saw the post w/ the grey car a month or so ago, I was like "looks ok, but i'm sure that guy's gonna wait a year or so before paint" Happy to eat my words

Well here is a true horror story for you all to enjoy at my misfortune.
Time set... 11/2000
First thing the car... A 1984 Z28 that has never seen snow and always garage kept. The body was in awsome shape and the amount of rust was minimal. Paint SHOT. Body shop was recommend by 4 people.
Soooooooooo
I get a quote for $3200 which includes an IROC hood, nose, rims, and other misc parts off a car, the body shop owner had. I gave him A & M Soff seal door seals and GM factory T-top seals along with all of my 91-92 ground effects, bumper, and other pieces. Grand total of parts I purchased $1200. I give him the day I drop off the car $2000 CASH
I recieve a scribbled receipt. Remaining bill obviously $1200.
The car makes it in the shop in under 1 week. In this time his stoner brother rips my Z28 hood off for his SC camaro (A real toilet too) along with other Z28 parts he wants.
The car sits........December I go in there has been a little sanding on the quarters.....January....nothing car looks the same....Febuary.....same......March.... Woo Hoo he says soon!.....April car is moved from spot to other side of shop nothing done but moved......May.... It will be done in 2 weeks. I heard this on the first of the month. Still nothing done tho.....May 15 car is now on jack stands in another area of the shop un touched. May 25 car still on jack stands rear bumper is hung. I ask him about the rust around the bumper mounting on the frame. I get "What rust?" (Blood boils) I make him remove the bumper and show him the surface rust where the bumper mounts. I get a stupid reason of that the bumper was only on the car temporarily. May 30th car is in primer and doors and deck lid cut into color. I notice that not all of the paint was not stripped. I ask him about it. I get "Dont worry we just got some basic things done and we are not done sanding yet." June 3 Car is ALL in color and painted. I'm excited she looks GREAT!!! I start checking things out. OH MY GAWD! There was NO paint along the endge of the hood! The idiot, who ever it was, buffed the edge of the paint totally off!!!! I freak and I mean I went off. He told me he was aware of this and his buddy who was there (Another pot head) was giving me crap about the car not being done. I start looking. I find flaw after flaw. He says he will fix it all. Come back next week the car will be ready. June 10 Come back hood fixed still tons of flaws. One of the flaws was that previous to me owning the car some one tried to seal a small leak in the corners of the windshield with RTV. Well the a$$hole painted over it. There is flaws all over the car. I'm not talking that small either. Chips UNDER the paint, orange peal, improper prep work, ect. I freak again. I get a reponce of "Well you said you just wanted it nice and smooth" It took alot at that moment to not knock what remaining teeth the f**ker had down his throat. Soooooo It took me a little bit to get the rest of the cash I needed to pick up the car. Along that time you name it and it happened to me to not get the cash up fast. The only good thing is the guy didn't charge me a storage fee for keeping my car. So the day comes to get the car. Finally my baby is home. I get my buddy with a car trailer to help and we are going to trailer her home. The day before I tell him I will be there to pick her up when I dropped off the last of the cash I owed him. He said he would have the battery all charged up so all I had to do was hop in her and driver her on the trailer. NOT! The a$$hole left the battery constantly connected to the car and with everything drained the battery to BEYOND dead. I mean this thing wouldn't even accept a charge dead. Mind you this battery was a year old. Well the guy "loans" me a new battery which it too needed to be charged as well. So after screwing around until 10 pm that night we finally left. My baby came home.
The next few weeks I discover things that just made me abosolutly FURIOUS The paint around the right front wheel well is flaking off. Its coming off the car. The rear deck lid seal doesn't seal properly. The deck lid where the spoiler connects, the holes were the bolts go through, there is rust bleeding through. My fiance walks around the car pointing things out that I missed.
I call the guy up and start a major pi$$ing match on the phone with him. He says he will fix the paint on the fender and that it. He says that he did $3200 worth of body work to the car and that I expect too much. If I owned a gun I would be writng this from prison, because I was soo pi$$ed I would have gone and shot him.
Well I still have his battery and I never did get the rest of the parts I was promised.
The only thing I got was SCREWED
But don't get me wrong the car does look good. Just dont look too close cuz you will see the flaws. Its was just not worth the money I paid, and the time that it took.
So beware. Get lots of quotes. Go multiple places. If you see a pile of beer cans leave. If you DON'T see a paint booth...leave. One last thing.. the cheepest isn't always the best one to go with.
