Re: Tinted Windows?

You might want to see if the scratches can be buffed out/removed and if that is more cost effective than glass replacement.

Generally, the question to ask yourself is "Can I afford to replace the scratched glass and when".

If you don't plan on changing the glass for a few years then go ahead and tint.

If you think you will replace the glass within the next year then hold off.

Scratches usually aren't too notcieable without tint on them. But once tint is put on it'll really show off the scratches. If it's really bad I would leave it alone untill you got new glass..

Re: Tinted Windows?

I had the same problem with my old* car. We tinted the windows hoping the scratches would be hidden....boy was I wrong, It looked worse tinted. So we went to a pull-a-part junkyard and just got new windows and believe this, they had brand new tint and not a scratch in it. We paid like 50.00 a window.

Is it scratches or leftover adhesive from the tint?

Re: Tinted Windows?

looks like sratches from the tint also when look at the window give that mirror rainbow look? but has spots all over them.

I tried my hardest by hand to buff them but nothing. And also it left a print on the back of my window with a smiley face. Someone's disgusting tint job. That will show up when it's really cold.

Re: Tinted Windows?

I would spray the window down with Windex and take a new sharp razor blade over the entire window to make sure all the glue is gone. I think i've even seen some guys take really fine steel wool over the glass to clean it too. I've done that on the outside of a windshield before to help remove bugs and it didn't scratch.
But if your glass is already scratched you don't have anything to lose anyway lol
