Re: rare find!

1000 seems like a lot, but consider a NEW set of grid lenses, if you can find them, will set you back 300 or 400, I don't think it's insane for something as rare. Perrypam always has NOS stuff, and they tend to be on the pricier side of things. But then again, if you had something no one else did, you'd prolly ask the moon for it too.

yeah, i understand where your coming from. but just because something is rare dosent make it worth alot. supply & demand. if theyre not somewhat sought-after, then whos going to pay $1000 for plastic lenses? im sure theres a couple of people who would, but thats a little much. most people ive talked to about tail lights, were trying to delete the yellow and make it red, i dont know anyone who would want a lense thats 1/2 yellow IMO they look worse then the normal lenses & rare or not, they arent worth 1000 bucks. thats MY OPINION though, and i totally understand what you are saying.

Re: rare find!

I have to agree with chevy heavy. Now, if I was in another country, where they are required, then maybe I would have to buy them. I've seen these a few times before, but never new.

Re: rare find!

For $1000 you can probably get a mold made for making your own lights and then manufacturer your own "unique/rare/whatever" lights that people would buy that look a lot better.

Re: rare find!

Much like the 2-piece 91/92 GTA taillights. Uncommon does NOT automatically equal desirable. Often times, there is a reason you don't see an item often....Because people don't like it! IMHO, those are as ugly as the 91/92 GTA taillights, with all that extra amber on them.

Both are good for correct Restorations, but that is about it.

The sellers name, perrypam, looks familiar, looks familiar. TGO Advertiser maybe?

Re: rare find!

Not something I would buy for my car . You would have a better looking lense if they were sprayed black.

Modern Day Muscle is one of, if not the cheapest NOS supplier out there. I had mentioned these lenses a couple months back, noting that MDM had them (had told me via email last fall) and that they were planning on sticking them on ebay, but they just now got around to it I guess.

perrypam is the old name for Modern Day Muscle.

As for the lights themselves, I believe they came on '82-'84 Export Z28s; I know for a fact they came on Japanese Camaros of that vintage, and I'm assuming also European models and other exported models.

Someone will pay the money for them. Only thing is you have to change your wiring for them and make two bulbs blink.

EDIT: I did think about buying them, along with the Japanese heat extractor hood just for car show shock value, but opted against it due to the wiring change.

I wish more people thought the way you do. The 91/92 TA lenses would be cheaper.

No kidding! I've been looking for a NOS set for years! (I'm just not willing to pay $600.00.)

Re: rare find!

TT, those are some interesting fill panels for the license plate...I know the Japan models use a plate that's nearly (if not exactly) identical in size to the US ones, so the Japanese exports ones look identical to North American ones.
