Latest Haul Thread
So, since this is the "Auto Detailing and Appearance" forum, how about a thread about detailing purchases?
Throw up pics of what you just picked up, from waxes to cleaners to brushes to machines.
I just picked this up yesterday, for only $106 with no tax and free shipping, a Porter Cable 7424XP:

Still need to get the backing plate and pads, along with pad cleaner and pad conditioner.

I don't know enough about detailing cars to do it myself, I let a good friend of mine who does it as a business for $65 for pretty much the full treatment. But I haven't had him come by yet. I should be going to in a few weeks.

Re: Latest Haul Thread
Whoa, so looking closely at my invoice, they included this for free:

It says 16 oz, but then "Free Sample" so I'm not sure if I'm getting a small bottle, or if a whole 16 oz bottle is the "Free Sample". I do think it's a full bottle, but I'm not sure.
Either way, pretty sweet.

Re: Latest Haul Thread
Nobody here washes/waxes/details their car?
Just ordered:
Citrus Wash/Gloss (concentrated wash for stripping prior to paint correction):

Lemon-Lime Air Freshener:

Stain Extractor Carpet Cleaner:

Microfiber Detergent:

P40 Finishing Polish:

721 Paint Correction 2 (to be followed with 778 Paint Correction 1 purchased earlier, may not even need this but just in case):

Jetseal 109 Sealant and Pete's 53 Carnauba Paste Wax (awesome deal right now, $54 for the kit with two applicators and towels, The Jetseal and Pete's 53 are nearly $40 each alone):

Wheel Guard Wheel Wax:

I'm pretty much set on chemicals now, though the Pete's 53 is for my Mustang only since it's black (Pete's is for dark/black cars); will order some 50/50 wax for my Camaro at a later date (may not take it out of storage until next spring). Now I just need a few brushes, hand applicators, a couple wash mitts/grit guards, and a big load of towels, the last of which I'll be getting from PakShak and I'll be pretty much ready to go to town.
Also inquired about CG's new Glossworkz glaze (available on the UK site but only via phone in the US) as well as their new Glassworkz glass cleaner (why not?). Hopefully they can work something out for me on those.

Re: Latest Haul Thread
Haha nope, this is just for my own cars. I still haven't laid eyes on my Mustang in person, as I bought it in February from overseas so I'd have a car ready to go when I get back in September, so I figure after six months of sitting in the old man's driveway with nothing but the touchless wash down the street every few weeks, it will be hurting for a detail, especially being a black car.
But of course, all of these things will be used on the Camaro too. Just have that "new car excitement" right now.

Well, I couldn't resist a 4th of July sale, so I placed another order:
Wasn't going to order anything anytime soon, but a great deal popped up I couldn't resist, so I placed an order:
50/50 Wax for the Camaro:

Fabric Guard:

Metal Shine:

2 sets of these:

2 of these:

And finally a spare orange 5.5" Hex pad for good measure:

And I got these coming for free, brand new polishes fresh out of development, added to the site yesterday:

Did you buy the polisher from Chemical guys? How do you like that machine and their detailing products? I was thinking of getting that machine.

^^^lol
No, I got the polisher from AutoGeek because they had an awesome memorial day sale on it for just the polisher by itself (but CG sells it too and has pretty decent kits). I'm overseas right now so I haven't used any of the stuff, but the majority of it is supposedly quite good, especially their paste waxes/shampoos/quick detailers/polishes/glazes, so I'm looking forward to doing some work on my cars when I get home in a couple months.
The V36/V38 polishes I didn't need at all since I believe they are redundant to the 778/P40 that I already have, but since they were free and brand new (4th of July promo) I thought I'd try them out (hey why not get $50 worth of polish for free if you can?), no harm no foul. If I don't like them I can always sell them and make a little cash.

And, they threw in a free bottle of Glossworkz Glaze:

And Glassworkz glass cleaner:

Definitely can't beat that! Thanks CG! I've got all chemicals now, and then some. Just need my MF towels, and a few applicators/brushes and I'm ready to rock.

Re: Latest Haul Thread
I've just washed with Meguiar's Gold Class (really crappy soap IMO the more I think about how poor the lubricity is and how much soap it takes to wash the car one time) and waxed by hand 3-5 times a summer with Meguiar's 3-step, that being 1 coat of cleaner wax, one coat of oil replenisher wax, and two coats of carnauba, door jams and all. All the trim and tires have of course been detailed every time, etc.
I've been really unhappy with that crappy Meg's wax too though, it's hard to get off the car, and the protection is pretty horrible at best. My car sees only Friday/Saturday night cruise duty (always after a wash, don't drive unless it's been freshly washed that day) and lives in a garage, and after maybe 2-3 gentle washes and cruises the wax is completely gone.
Kinda fed up with the Autozone level OTC crap, so this year since I bought my Mustang I've decided to get serious about detailing, so I've been reading a lot and I picked up a buffer and the whole 9 yards. Going to get some quality microfiber here pretty soon too.

Re: Latest Haul Thread
No, not much of a detailing spray guy...don't like wiping dirt all over the car and marring the paint. I use detailer as a drying aid when drying the car, makes drying the car much easier and less susceptible to water spots...I just mist the whole wet car with detailing spray when I'm about to dry it and then dry like normal.
Detailing sprays don't make me feel like the car is clean...it only feels clean after a wash to me. There have been times when I've washed Friday night and cruised, and then used a spray on the car if I want to cruise around for a bit on Saturday morning, but I generally don't like doing that.

Re: Latest Haul Thread
Keeping my thread alive here, it was time to order up some quality MF towels and a couple wash mitts:
5 MICROPAK Ultra-Microband Plush Micro Fiber Towel 25" x 36" in Golden:

http://pakshak.com/ultra-microband-p...l-25x36-1.html
8 MICROPAK 16" x 16" "Big Boy" Ultra-Plush 530g Micro Fiber Towels:

32 MICROPAK 16" x 16" Ultra-Plush Micro Fiber Towels (8 of each of the four available colors--light blue, forest green, gold coast, lavender):

http://pakshak.com/ultra-plush-micro...l-16x16-1.html
6 MICROPAK 16" x 24" Ultra-Fine Micro Fiber Towels:

http://pakshak.com/ultra-fine-micro-...l-16x24-1.html
1 MICROPAK 7" x 9" Ultra-Plush Microfiber Wash Mitt (for wheels only):

http://pakshak.com/ultra-plush-micro...itt-7x9-1.html
And finally, went with a Race Glaze Wash Mitt. I wanted the GTechniq WM1 mitt, but it is sold out everywhere. The Race Glaze Mitt is probably more popular, and was also sold out almost everywhere, but I found 4 left on Amazon so I snapped one up:

Picked up one of these for just $32, halogens are essential for proper paint correction...was incredibly useful on the 21 hour buffing/waxing job I just completed:

I used to use a product by Blue Coral called "Product X" was the best filling glaze on the market at one time, very hard to find now that Shell took them over.
I agree on the detail spray, I would rather wash the car really quick, I do however use a California duster on my black cars.

Do you find that it puts fine scratches in the paint? I've never used one, but my black 67 shows every particle of dust and I wash it every time. Looking for a gentle alternative.
