painted brackets

as time goes along and those random details that are done start to add up and make the appearance look better and then there are the other things that are standing out that need to be delt with.

i was looking at my serp brackets today and i have the obvious 2 options, blast them back to natural or paint them. im leaning on painting but i dont want too much paint or the "over painted eng bay" look. anyone have painted serp brackets?

yes i did a search and nothing came up.

Re: painted brackets

I'm in the process of a swap. While I had the brackets off the motor, I cleaned and degreased them as much as possible and painted them with engine paint, aluminum color. Turned out OK, but there are spots that could have been cleaned better.

This is everything together for a test fit before I put the motor in the car. The smog pump and all the AIR equipment has been removed, but you get the idea.

Re: painted brackets

Re: painted brackets

I thought about black, but with the block painted black I thought it would be too much. The aluminum color matches the unfinished intake pretty good. I also painted the water pump to match since it had a bit of surface rust all over it.

Re: painted brackets

being my block is red along with my car the black may be a nice offset.

Re: painted brackets

Mine looks the same as Al Hasse, i when i had my engine out i blasted and painted my brackets. I found a aluminum color that was real close to the natural color. I havent had to touch them since. That was 9 years ago.

i'd agree if you can afford it. if not, aluminum engine paint is what a lot of us (myself included) do to make them look nice again

Re: painted brackets

Blasted and painted with natural alum all the brackets, pulleys, accesories ect., that I havent replaced with aftermarket on my motor. You cant go wrong with bead blasting, comes out beautiful, paint sticks perfectly, you can also see any imperfections/cracks when finished as well.

Here are a couple of accs you can see I blasted. Intake, Water pump. Headers were blasted, painted, and baked.

Re: painted brackets

Everyone's got an opinion on "color". Matching the car, matching the block, yada yada yada. Even black might be "too much" black for some. That being said, aluminum/natural goes with everything and always looks good. Kinda like blue jeans. Can't go wrong!
