Who's Slapped Some Birds On Their Hoods?

I know it was all the rage in the seventies, but has anybody done it with their third gens? I haven't really seen any, but I think it could look pretty cool. Unique, you know?

If you have, lets see some.

I know it´s not intended this way, I just could not resist...

Were there thirdgens that came with a hood decal at all?

Re: Who's Slapped Some Birds On Their Hoods?

Did it come that way from the shop, like in, was that a decal package you could order?

I´m asking because in another forum I´m surrounded by people who lay great value on keeping everything stock and I´ve seen one or two of those decals on thirdgens as well, just never really looked into it.

This would be an oppertunity to learn something about third gen firebird decal packages

I believe its a decal package the PO put on. I have seen several like it on this forum though. As far as if they came factory like that Im not sure. Something I would like to know as well.

I don't have the money for paint yet, but I'm planning on painting mine dark red (either Jeep Rock Red, or Corvette Monterey Red) and putting the gold bird and stripe kit on it.

Found my car like this yesterday afternoon.
I guess it´s just another way to stay dry when it rains.

I had quite some cleaning up to do after the little bird left however

LarryL, what hood do you have? Seen other ram air hoods but yours looks more like the real hood. Looks great with the bird

Re: Who's Slapped Some Birds On Their Hoods?

I think some early third gens had them. I can't say for sure, all I know is mine didn't have one Subscribing, I'll get a pic of mine if I think about it when I'm armed with a camera. Gunmetal gray, with a gold hood bird to match the gold GTA badging and crosslace rims.

One things for sure, not too many people still mistake it for a Camaro after they see the screaming chicken on the hood!

Re: Who's Slapped Some Birds On Their Hoods?

YES, it is a ram air 1 hood. The birds I had custom made. The same style bird is on the quarter sails and the tail light. I really not crazy about the tail light bird, but until I find another center tail light section I will live with it. I want to make the back one light up with the lights. I went with a colored bird to add some color to the car. I painted the car factory white with micro and mini flake and blue pearl to the clear coats.

IIRC, 86 was the last year for the Firechickens to appear on the hoods stock.

Here's a few pics from when I first got her, and a few after we completely stripped and painted the GTA rims.
