New badges to go with motor swap...

I'm putting the finishing touches on a 383 swap in my 89 RS. I thought that since this isn't really an RS any more with WS6 and Z28 suspension parts, C5 Corvette and LS1 brakes and other aftermarket stuff, something different was in order. I found Unique Customs, LLC ( http://www.emblempros.com ) a few months ago and discovered that this was the same store that I bought a set of stainless steel badges from for my 92 RS, only he isn't on e-Bay any longer.

I contacted him through his site and asked if he could make a set of 383 stainless badges to go on my 89. A couple of e-mails, phone conversations and drawings later, I had a nice set of badges to take the place of the old stock RS emblems.

This picture is posted in the Vendor Review section, but worthy to show off here. The emblem is not actually gold, just the color of indoor lighting reflecting off the pieces. These will take the place of the RS on the bumper once I get the adhesive out of the recess.

This is a temporarily installed rocker emblem. The stock badge is two pieces (except for 91-92 which sticks directly to the GFX), a "frame" of sorts with studs (most are broken off) which covers a pair of GFX mounting screws, and the emblem is glued into this "frame." I separated the emblem from the "frame" and painted it, then set my 383 emblems inside and attached it to the car.

Re: New badges to go with motor swap...

I've got another temporary install. I decided that without first repainting the car, that using the original RS insert was the way to go. It also makes removal. if necessary, easier as it will be one piece instead of four. I removed the RS emblem from the rear, which was in sad shape, then scuffed it and painted it body color prior to setting the new stainless pieces on it. I still need to find something to remove the old adhesive from the bumper before making this more permanent.

Excuse the dirt on the rest of the bumper...
