What is the point in "no negative feedback"?

I see moderators posting "I dont want to see any negative feedback, just positive." and im thinking:

What in the hell is the point for a message board if you can't post your comments?

This is directed at Chuck and his comment in the Body Kit post. If we can't state our opinion on something, why have a message board. I thought that the reason for the internet is to learn and communicate, but if you can't state your opinion, theres no reason.

Just trying to get some information here. Not flaming or anything.

It turns into arguments that get out of control. What we need is another board totally seperate from this one to vent.

The "lets all argue about it" message board

I made this board so we can all argue amongst ourselves there instead of here.

I think negative feedback should be aloud as long as its creative. Dont make it sound like your trying to attack someone. Like, if someone has wheels you think are ugly dont say "thats looks like crap, what a pail, etc." Try and say why they dont work with the car or something

Exactly. I think that body kit is ugly, but because it looks like a Ferrari rip-off. There are some people on here who have wheels that i dont like, but if they ask my opinion, i usually say "They just dont suite me." not "Yo they are the ugliest piece of crap yo...go buy the same wheels everybody else has!"

Postive and negative feedback should be aloud without having to worry about immature statements. I thought that was the point of having a moderator - to moderate. If you think something is inappropriate, delete it. That way, people like "One Eyed Jack" won't be able to post their immature posts about "rice this, rice that." and then cry about how eveybody hates him.

Positive feedback doesn't mean you have to like the thing. It just means that you've got to use some tact. Instead of saying "You're a f**king idiot rice lover" you can try things like "I don't particularly care for that style of ground effect"

Granted I tend to be somewhere in the middle with my comments.

This is directed at everyone.

It can get pretty vindictive. If you don't like something, state it (you owe them as much) But don't down the person or their preference, and a suggestion would be nice to.

Most of the posts that errupt into a bar brawl are the body kits/exterior related stuff. I don't even know why someone would ask an opinion on an item without a function. People have likes and dislikes, and the feedback is going show that.

If you love the new black out head light covers, all the power to you, but don't ask peoples opinion on it. It is only your opinion that counts. But if you are bolting on some intake runners ask, people will give you real feedback.

If it is not performance or quality issue, opinions are pretty useless.

Judst keepin' it real!

one of the reasons i don't often post on thirdgen.org anymore is because it is so over-policed. While I understand, and completely respect the "tech only" stance of TGO, there should be some leniency in post locking etc, and i think everyone should be entitled to their opinion, whatever it may be.

but I won't argue with how it's run because it's not my site. That's why I built a site of my own, so i can't argue with how it's run.

I don't think it is, there has been lots of posts on the boards that they let go lately. Its better as an all Tech site, and I think u know what went on last time with a Non-Tech board here.

Why is NE3G not accepting registrations, some here want a place to discuss non-tech?? Thats what I was told anyway.

The problem is you all don’t see all the post, name calling, racist comments, threats and the bickering. I have let this board drift from Tech only and it has become a giant headache. I will not be a baby sitter and there are boards for non-tech. Try www.nethirdgen.org or www.3rdgen.org

Sorry if I come of as a bad moderator but I am tired of the BS.

I am not saying we can not voice our opinions but we must use tact and not strive to upset the other members.

Thanks for your understanding,
Chuck
