What do yall use to dry your ride...

Just curious is to what yall use to dry your cars.Heard the best way is to pull up beside a Honda or something at a redlight, let the Honda punch it and you slowly accelerate up behind him and let the "rice" fall of his car(knocking the beads of water off of yours)proceed into the lane you were in early, punch it and then pass him and throw your hand up in the air and thank him or her for the "nice dry" oops i mean "rice dry"..hehehe..just a little humor to make yall smile..:8^)..seriously though...how and with what do yall use to dry your rides with?

Mark..i'm glad you brought that up..i currently use the California water blade on my ride and let me tell you that...that has to be the best way to dry one with..no streaks,no little pieces of lint,nothing..it works just like a windshield wiper..except for your body of your car,it contours and flexes to all your body lines,mouldings..etc..$20 bucks at Wal-Mart i think..great product!

I use a standard "real" shammy. (I know it's spelled wrong), but you get the idea.

I used to use a chamois. Until recently when i saw a guy using a california water blade on the $15,000 paint job on his custom truck. He explained to me that there is alot of friction between the paint and the chamois. Plus the chamois will collect dirt and you will just be putting fine scratches in your clearcoat the whole time. On the other hand, the water blade is made out of surgical grade silicon(i think thats what it was) and does not collect dirt like the chamois. I trust this guy's opinion, as he has won awards in many carshows.
My vote goes for th waterblade

i use 100 percent cotton super soft cloths, i dont like towels becouse of harshness and i wont use "wind sheild wiper" or california wiper as u guys called it. I used to work at a jaguar dealer here in amherst NY and they always dryed the cars with those things, they suck *** . u cant get into crevices and they leave streaks that must be rubbed out of the car, its ****ed up. A brand new vanden plas with a huge mark down the center of the hood before it hits the road........ill pass

They probably dont know how to use the california blade right. I use mine and it takes about 95% of the water away, and in the spots where i cant use the water blade, i have this sponge towel type thing, it dries water instantly and NO STREAKS! and u can squeeze the water out of it and it become perfectly dry and you can continue cleaning without having any streaks

I used to use the chamois as well, but then I heard a lot of good things on this board about the California Water Blade. So I bought it. I only used it once so far, but I was definitely impressed. My vote goes to the Water Blade as well.

I use chamois and sometimes towls. I'm gonna have to try a water blade though, sounds kind of neat.

I mainly use the dirty old rag treatment followed by dusting it with some sand so that it will suck up of the rest of the water, then i kinda massage the sand into all the little areas and rub really really hard. Ok, i really don't do that, but I agree the most with Coldy's method.

i work at a body shop and i have to clean every car that comes out of there..
i use the california water blade every day. i have scratched only two cars ever and i buff the one out and the other i didnt see till it was too late then lady was leaving in the car. anyways if you clean the car off with a mitt and soap now just spray it off this way you get the deep dirt seperated away from the paint then wash that dirt off then use the water blade. it wont scratch the car. and you can only get 90-95% of the water on the car. so then i use a real chamois and i get the rest of the water and tah-dah. its done on the outside.

its real easy and real quick, and i use them everyday.

I use the Absorber myself. I'm probably going to try to get one of the water blades, but you still need something to get what's left behind. I like the Absorber because it lasts forever and comes in a case which keeps it from collecting dirt when it's not being used. I've had one that I kept for about three years.

i use the water blade also, and i fear getting fine scratches in my paint, but then again i have the same fear using shammys (sp?) and towels (actualy did have a towel scratch paint really bad). so for now i use the water blade, and use paper towels to suck up the water behind the emblems, and the mirrors.

I use the water blade with the absorber to pick up what's left behind in the tight spots. My clear coat is still in great condition so I have a lot of water just run off, but that combination works great to pick it up.

well i don't have a 15,000 dollar paint job, but it was half that and i wouldn't use any thing other than the california water blade. I've tried them all from the obsorber to the shami's to even 100% cotton fieldcrest towels; can't be an imitation though they use rubber an not silicone; if i have the time though nothing beats an electric leaf blower... pure genius without ANY streaks, scratches, or water spots.

just looks funny to the neighbors.

I have seen some posts about people using their leaf blowers.Seems to me that it would hurt the paints surface, seeing that leaf blowers pull air from around it in order to blow it out,dust,dirt,etc...Sounds like a good idea i guess, but i will stick to using the ol' California Water Blade.
