Thanks Chuck I was thinking that no one knew what I was talking about. I've have been searching all over the web trying to find more info on these firebirds but I'm not having any luck. I would have thought atleast one person here would have one but I've never seen or heard anyone mention one of these cars before. For those who don't know what a Pro AmII or Bandit II is here's what I've gathered so far.
They were built between from 1987-1997 by Choo Choo Customs in Chattanooga, TN. They only did body mods to my knowledge to base firebirds and turned them into ProAmII's or Bandit II's. The mods on the Pro Am's included Cowl Induction style hood scoop, aftermarket wheels, fog lamps, dual outlet muffler, numbered dash plaque, and all factory options.
On the Bandit II's Aftermarket GTA style Gold rims with the satin polished outer rim. The original silver -black swirl pontiac rims were removed for the conversion. Centercaps read "Ultra" The doors carried the Bandit II gold logo with "Limited Edition" underneath. The front and rear fascias (bumpers) also had "Bandit II" & "The Custom Center" decals.
The Floor Mats also carried the same logo in gold embroidery for each side. The headrests have a checkered flag logo with either three letter C's for Chatanooga Custom Center, two letter C's for "Custom Concepts", and "The Custom Center", or the "Bandit II" logo stitched on the headrest. Brushed aluminum Gold, or Silver Applique kit was applied around the shifter and guages-radio area. I have heard of wood paneling, but have yet to see it. The whole car has pinstripe around all windows and t-tops. Also around the bottom and top front and back and up the side ground effects. The hood had the fake late 70's style shaker scoop on the hood. and the with "5.0 Injected" in gold on each side like the old "6.6 T/A" (400) or '6.6 litre" (403).
Two sail panel birds on the side. dual exhaust straight out the back-chrome tips.
Now on the dash on the right hand side in front of the passenger on the thin piece
of dash under the "map pocket" towards the right there is a Gold Plaque which reads
"1991 Bandit II #? of 600" Of the Bandit II's production #s were
1987: 500
1988: 500
1989: 500
1990: 600
1991: 600
1992: 600
I have also found a few pics
This is the BanditII
And this is the ProAmII
Now that everyone knows what it is. Does anyone here have one? Are they just so rare that noone has heard or seen one of these?
Info found and credit goes to Bandit II / Pro-Am Registry at http://bandit2proamregistry.homestead.com/Main.html

There is 2 Pro Am's(3rdgen's) in my town so I'm kinda use to seeing them and then I thought damn I've never seen one anywhere on this site so I thought I would ask just out of curiousity. Then the replies were going toward the 4thgen on ebay and then it got locked so I thought to myself maybe no one else has a clue as to what a "Pro Am" is so then I started searching the internet trying to find info as to why they are so uncommon. I sent Chuck an e-mail explaining what had happened and he very nicely replied and reopened the e-mail. Anyway back to the topic before we get locked again

Ok, When I was in Larmie, Wyoming going to school at Wyo Tech in 1999 my neighbor had a 91 Pro-Am, this car got my attention immediatly because it was white, had a roll cage and a big *** NOS bottle in the back. I had an 82 Z28 at the time, and he was as fanatic as I was about keeping our cars clean so we ended up being pretty good friends, He bought the car from a dealership back in 92 in Chicago, and the started modifying it.
Stock he said it had a 305 TBI/A4 and 2.73s. He got rid of the 305 and was running a 383 with TPI and a 200HP shot of NOS behind that, with 3.23 gears and a TCI built 700R4 with a trans-go stage II shift kit. The car was white with grey cloth with the stitching in the headrests like John mentioned, it also had a dash plaque numbering it low 100's (cant remember) he also had a 160 mph speedo (we will get to that shortly) He took me for a ride once after he had the NOS bottle refilled... we got on to I-80 and he was crusing along at about 75-80.. he hit the NOS and punched it and it kicked down into 3rd and fried the tires until about 115 or so... it hooked up and we were GONE! Like I said, the speedo went to 160 and we pegged it and it was still pulling hard when he let off. It pisses me I didnt get more pictures of it, but at the time I wasnt into photography as much as I am now (since I do it for a living now
)
Here are the only 2 pictures I ever took of it.
His car next to my 82 Z28..

And again... Note the beat down IROC and the nice 85-90 T/A in the background not to mention the idiot ******* with his Ford.

I took these pics out of my apartment window with a disposable so, that can explain the poor quality

I saw a pro-am 2 in a wall-mart parking lot about a month ago. I thought it was just some funky add on hood bulge and stuff. I didn't know it was a custom thing. Looks pretty good though.

Yea their limited editions but obviously a very limited editions.
I kinda like the big cowl induction hood scoop. There's a guy in town that has a red one in mint condition with wheels on it and it's very nice.

Hey joebryan26, I did a quick reply to your email with the few things I could think of.
However, here are the thirdgen Camaro "counter parts" so to speak from Choo Choo Customs. I've posted them on here before. They are pretty much all stripes/decals/gfx/scoop upgrades with little or no ***** to back up the names. The 3 versions were the SX, SS and the TeamCamaro. I do have the specs on them if needed since the pics are crappy. Sorry, the xerox copies are all that I have!!
TeamCamaro:
SS:
SX:
Again, sorry for the B&W pics

Hi, I own a 1989 Firebird PRO/AM.
And its pretty much as you guys are saying.
Fake cowl induction hood, 305TBI/lo3. Wood panels automatic tranny. It has ground effects and everything is electric powerd (no manual movement in this car). The car stock is not that fast, but the bigger dual exaust really helps if you put a different muffler and some good headers. The tranny was standard with overdrive and it came with only one fan (which I hate).
I took the whole top of the engine apart and had it re-built and painted. Now its blue and red. I switched to an open element with some cold air induction. I am in a process of putting a grille on the front bumper. However, without any money till the end of the month I had to settle with drilling about 200 holes in the upper third of the bumper which is the only spot that allows cool air to flow to the radiator. The battery comes on the pass. side aswell. I think that Pro/ams are great, but their aggressive looks do not match the power, that is untill you let that TBI breethe, give it some headers and you will notice the difference. I will change the stock TBI unit for a better one.
As soon as I get a hold of a digital camera I will post the pics of the pro/am. Also I am thinking of making a free website with all the things I am doing to it, as well as it how it came stock.
Good luck.

The last time i was at the pull-a-part I spotted one among all the buicks and olds. Nice red doors and panels with silver grafix.. woodgrain inside too... I could see no reason why it should have ever been taken there...I wanted to start pulling parts cause I rarely see'em...

Hey, I just started the webiste, but be aware I am still in process of getting the pics in there, however Geocities is not very cool with the pics, not nearly as good as 20m, but they dont have any free domains anymore (bummer). So, I will try to add a pro/am page to my Krusaders domain on 20m, and I will add some pics of the pro/am on this link http://www.geocities.com/krugerfredy/proam.html
There are still no pics but I will get them by next monday.

Ok bringing a dead topic back again... I had a bunch of pics of pro am IIs on a disk that died. So I lost them all! I was trying to get some pics to show a friend. Looks like all the pics here are gone...anyone have any pics of the camaro and firebirds discussed in this thread. I had never heard of the camaro versions till I found this thread while searching! No luck on Google. Most of the sites that mentioned them have dead links to the pics!

The Pro-Am looks cool, and you could back it up with some mods to make it faster and even more cool; but the Bandit II, even if you build it to run 10s, It still has a stick-on fake hood scoop!
A few years back I knew a woman who was selling hers. I should have bought it for the condition and the price she was asking for it. She only wanted 5k and it had like 50k thousand miles on it. Goodlooking car but was 305
She sold it some old guy who would crusie up and down the town in it, thinking he had a hotrod LMAO. Dont get me wrong was nice car just needed a monster under the hood. The car was white and was a nice looking car , a cross between a formula and trans/am

Ok, I uploaded few pics, and the internet I got is giving me heck. So, please bear with me for few hours. Also, I am doing some modding on my bumper tomorow. Putting in new skirts and cutting out a grille. I will update you with progress. Other than that, please ask questions if youre interested.
I have a 1989 PRO-AMII Firebird. I will take some pictures and pass it along. My PRO-AMII has the full cowl induction hood, T-tops, dual exhaust, wood grain dash and full ground effects, PRO-AMII decals on the doors, the paint is two tone. Light blue on the upper 3/4 of the car and darkblue on the lower 1/4. I bought the car from my brother-in-law in Louisville Kentucky. The car is in excellent condition. I have owned the car for over 11 years.

Nice pics redraif. Only reason I was on here is there is one for sale cheap close to me and I need something else to drive besides my Camaro. Was wondering what Choo Choo customs did to them other than the exterior.
