Just under 2 hours from cradle to being bolted in car with the trans. The time will add up now with the wireing and accesories, than the super charger.

Very slow progress today, lots of wireing to fix and re-route, I really want the engine bay to look clean. I am adding all new loom and vacum line and hose.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

Picked up a set of Pro-Comp Spiral core 10.2 wires need to be cut and set to size. Got all new sensors from the dealer (everyone of them) since the car sat in storage and only ran a few times a year for almost 10 years. I hope to get it running by the end of the weekend but I am not sure if I will get that far.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

Feel like I didnt get crap done, got the headers on and all the sensors installed. Put the pipe nipples in and manifold plugs and a few other small things, spent most of the day gradually grinding the plate that holds the A/C on. That new aluminum water pump is thicker than stock and I had to keep grinding and test fitting.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

I hate fixing previous Owners crap, why do people jury rig things especialy when it comes to wiring. I took off every loom in the car and rewired all the crap he added like alarm and stereo, I did it all factory again. I will add in the wires for my amp and stuff the correct way. I just need some 2 inch and 1/4 inch loom and the entire engine bay will be redone. Tomorrow I will go under the dash and fix any jury rigged wiring in there.

To me, being a perfectionist is what separates a true auto enthusiast who loves his car from someone who just likes having a nice toy.

I try, I really love these cars, my 14 year old is searching for an 86-7 IROC with T-tops. He is getting the 3rd-gen bug now, we are looking for a project car that is not destroyed by PO.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

You would'nt think it but there was just over a 100 feet of loom in the engine bay, 1/2 inch, 3/8 - 1/4 and 2 inch loom, feels like it took forever. Just need to order some T's for the connecting areas and it will be complete

Re: Too Involved or ****?

To do it right, for any of use that have dealt with the wiring as a whole, we believe it. I haven't actually dealt with my wiring but have looked at the TPI loom I have and would have guessed close to 80 so I will believe the 100.

AS you can see I took the time to clean every brake line (pic is during) I cleaned all the bolts and repaint the heads only, These are parts you do not see but I know they are there. When he left I decided to take some pics of the work to post to ask if I am to ****. I will post pics of the spindles and covers when they are painted.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

Well my car went on the back burner to get this one out of the corner, it needs to sit for the next 6 weeks to let that paint really harden before putting all the trim on. Off to the interior shop and then strait to its new home, will take a few more when complete, now back to my 91.

****. These cars were designed and built for driving enjoyment, not detailing enjoyment. Drive an imperfect third-gen while being **** on a car that's not for driving pleasure. Anything that doesn't have a V8 and RWD would do.

I don't understand your post, I will be driving this car, that is why I did all the suspension upgades and brakes. I just chose to detail out cars that I build, I figure its apart why not clean and paint everything while I can.

I wish I had the room and patience to finish stuff to that level. I do if it's visible, but a quick brushing and wiping is usually all bolts get out of me.

It's guys like you that bring mirrors to a car show. That's not a bad thing.

Found some pics of the car when I bought it and put in my storage area at the shop, $1,000 and a bare 396 block, not a bad deal. First pic was as it sat, then its tore down to see the damage.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

When I bought the black vert I was in the middle of building my 91 hardtop 350 5 speed, I pulled the motor from a wrecked SS Impala. THis car was a complete mess ready for the bone yard so I decided to just do a custom color (yellow, blue and green pearl in the clear) car looked great at night, when I pulled it out of the booth it looked like Big Bird, so I added the pearle in the clear after adding the mercury colored stripes. Forgot the pics

Yea I blacked out all the lights, clear with a few drops of black in it. I wanted a nice bright yellow but with out the pearle in the clear and the stripes it was just so YELLOW! I need to post a pic of it at night, the color looked much better then

yellow is starting to grow on me after seeing a formula and now this.

as long as there isn't a speck of red anywhere but tail lights/emblems. like those god awful ketchup and mustard looking spark plug wires.

That is one beautiful car. The width of the stripes is perfect. The pearl colors sounds real good to be used over yellow. In case you didn't get it I really, really like the look.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

Well ater a 2 month layoff on the 91 to finish up another smaller project and a much needed 2 week vacation, I was back in the 91 yestarday. installed the Vortech Stealth-Ram, Bosch stage-3 42lb green injectors and the Paxton. I wired up the sensors, but need to fabricate a few pieces like a coil mount along with a new aluminum bractet to help stabilize the Paxton since the new motor does not have all the mounting holes. Also picked up the fittings and high pressure hose to for the fuel delivery and return, need to mock up the travel path in cheap vacum line so I get the routing as clean as possible, all in all was a pretty good day, she should get fired up here in the next month.

No such thing as being too ****. If it weren't for people who took exceptional care of these cars we probably wouldn't have any left in another few more years. We certainly wouldn't have any worth looking at today if everyone just fixed what broke and otherwise just ran them into the ground.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

Looking good under there! You need to break out your polishing wheel on the tensioner to match the intake and charger

C'mon!!! You know what I used! I'm guessing you haven't got your order in? I did hit mine with my big wheel this time on a 10" sewn cotton buff. It gets better everytime I polish it.

Re: Too Involved or ****?

No such thing as too ****... every part on my car has been painted... and I mean everything... every nut & bolt was replaced... anything that I could not replace got fresh zinc plating... all the wires are new... I touched everything!~

spent more time on parts that go under the car where nobody will ever see than anywhere else.

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS, it's what makes your car diff than others.
