I have mine steam cleaned every two months or so... other then that I used purple power and a foaming cleaner/protector.

Gunk is kinda like using a broadsword in place of a scalpel. If you've NEVER cleaned the engine before, and there's literally chunks of grease and grime etc. etc., then Gunk works very well. ...that being said, it's a bit abrasive, and is NOT a detailer by any means. I use water and simple green.

Re: cleaning engine compartment?

the green stuff at the car wash works pretty good as well. other than that i wash my engine bay once a month. wipe it down and wax all paint showing i can get to. touch up paint if needed. best tip is to stay on top of it.

Clean and paint, degrease and paint, sand and paint, wipe down and wax, so on we go.

Re: cleaning engine compartment?

All I use is soapy hot water with a rag and keep rinsing the rag out. I used Goof Off in a spray on my DD and it works great on built up greasy parts.I don't use it on the TA though.
