Which tail lights?

I ask this, because I'm curious as to your opinions. I have an 88 RS with the low-rise spoiler. My current tail lights are fine, but I'm curious as to how the grids would look with it because I haven't seen them with a lowrise spoiler. Opinions?

My car's rear for reference (albeit an old picture):

I've got a spare set I Nightshaded that were in really good shape (and still are, obviously). I never mounted them, and they've been stored in my closet the entire time. Would you be interested in doing a swap for lights?

Re: Which tail lights?

My lights are tinted like that but they've faded recently and there was a small crack in the left one and my sub has made the crack... pretty damn big. Although I have two pristine, crack free tail lights that I found from searching my local junk yards. like 12 bucks ea. I just want to dyna mat my trunk or something my sub doesn't destroy these too. But ya what I'm saying is just search your local junk yards. You'd be surprised and I live in AZ full of sun and heat and still find great condition ones.

Re: Which tail lights?

I would keep that set. I think they look better than the grid style.

Re: Which tail lights?

I added this hatch just before paint.
AKA one year spoiler that was actually only made for half a year.
I think it compliments my 2in. cowl nicely.

Re: Which tail lights?

I'd stick with the lenses you got, but then again I'm biased. HA I like the fact they look similar to late 2nd gen lights. I also prefer the horizontal black stripe, which breaks up the lens and makes it looks less busy. More noticable at night with the lenses lit.

ronusmc, did you put that spolier on without the hard plastic pieces (gaskets?) between the spolier and decklid?

Re: Which tail lights?

Generally I prefer grids, but I think that style (the 82 Z28 style lights) looks AMAZING when tinted/nightshaded, way better than the grids nightshaded. It's just a much cleaner look.

Re: Which tail lights?

Your car looks very nice. The low rise spoiler looks great with the combination of everything you've done to it.

Yes I did. I removed the cheep brittle plastic ones . I really did not want them on with the new paint.
I put (I think they were 1/2 di. and fairly thick.) rubber washers on the mounting bolts to elevate the wing just off the deck a little not to high because it will add to much pressure and slowly tightened them down to where the wing bases were just a micro/hair away from the deck. They also seal out water from getting into the deck. Any way it worked perfectly for me.The small space you see in the photo. is inevitable.
