Anyone ever do this?

Was a beautiful day yesterday and decided to go browse and do some shopping! As i am looking out the store window I'm thinking i sure hope i rolled my windows up! Because it started raining and looked like a hurricane out there!!! I was pretty sure they were rolled up. I mean i used the AC and you don't drive with the windows down with the AC on. Well when i got to the car after two hours of straight rain both my windows were rolled down more then usual. No kidding buckets of water. I had a towel in the back and spent a hour ringing it out from the water in the car. Was like a acid rain, every black trim was stripped of black..weird... MAD and hoping i can get it all dried out. One hot sunny day should do it! Get some back to black polish and i should be good! Never do that again!!! Spent another 3 or 4 hours today detailing. I bet i have the cleanest car in town! Had to get some good smelling carpet cleaner and upholstery cleaner. Smells better, going to hit it again tomorrow with the back to black! That really is some good stuff. Just wondering how many of you guys have ever did something so stupid like leaving windows down and not remembering????hahahah hahahaha

Re: Anyone ever do this?

I had it worse. Years ago I drove my own car (non f-body) to my high school graduation since I had to be there early. That day it was insainly hot with almost 100% humidity and my car had no A/C. So as most people would do, I left my windows open about 3/4 of an inch. It was bright and sunny when I walked into the hall but an hour later during the ceremony I could see nothing but thick black clouds and falling water outside. I had to sit there and watch the the downpour knowing my seats were getting wetter and wetter. And guess what. When the cetemony was over and I could get to my car It was bright and sunny outside again. My seats were wet for 2 weeks!

No kidding, sucks when seats are wet. Mine were dry today! Very hot here in Az and i left both windows and rear hatch open so the floors and seats and anything else that got wet dried.

Where i live, if i leave the windows down to walk in a liquor store to buy a drink, which takes about 5 min, when i come out my Iroc will be gone or something inside atleast. So never leave windows rolled down if im not in the car.

Re: Anyone ever do this?

When its a rainy day I park under a tree because my T-Tops leak so so nothing usually happens. But then I went to the barbers to get a hair cut the rained stopped and there wasn't any trees around. When I was getting my hair cut a storm all of a sudden came over my car. I got inside the car there was a cascade from the T-Tops it was horrible I thought I got into a lake lol.

Oh wow man, this sounds like my HS graduation. I wanted to pull in all cool so I had the t-tops off, windows down (Autograph playing on the radio ) and like you, it was sunny when I went in. I heard the rain on the roof halfway through and I simply LEFT to go roll all the windows back up and put the tops on...didn't make any difference, the car was soaked anyhow and I gotta tell ya it was pretty awkward walking back in after freaking out and hauling *** down the aisle...

Re: Anyone ever do this?

back in 06 I had a very nice custom 2004 Dakota that i did not drive in the rain much. I needed gas for the show I was going to the next day so I drive to the gas station about a mile away from home-it was nice out when i left. I left the drivers window about half way down, pumped gas and went in to pay and get smokes. As i'm in the long line and it was like someone hit a switch- the rain was coming in sidway-the side of the truck with the window down. By the time I got to the truck I looking like I took a shower dressed and the divers seat, door and dash was soaked. Yeah show prep that night took alot longer.

Re: Anyone ever do this?

Several years ago, when I lived in Texas, I drove from San Antonio to Houston(for some reason the flight from Houston was significantly cheaper than flying out of San Antonio, cheaper than gas to get there and back) to take a flight out to Florida to visit my family. I left the car in the long term parking lot and took a shuttle to the airport. When I returned 10 days later, I noticed my window was still left 1/4" cracked. It had been a very rainy 10 days in Houston so my interior was soaked and my door panel was damaged.

On to a funny story about rain...I flew out to Mass./R.I. to help a friend move back to Florida and on the way back I was driving the Georgia/Florida part of it. We were in my friend's Mercury Sable and he had fallen asleep with his head laying on the passenger door and the window wide open. I could see a big wall of rain ahead so I closed my window and left his open. That woke him up and he couldn't help but laugh.

Re: Anyone ever do this?

I thought I did this one time (my heart dropped) but upon closer inspection it turns out that some scumbag smashed in my driver side window during a thunderstorm. There's a special place in hell for people who break into vehicles.

Anyway, that was my truck that got broken into... I'm too **** with the car to take it out when there's even the slightest bit of rain in the forecast (let alone leave it parked in public with the windows rolled down)
