Chip in glass ?

So I just bought a 89 camaro vert. There are a few chips on the top edge of the door glass. My guess is the convertible top wasn't lowered properly lowered somewhere along the cars life. Anyone know how I could get these chips out or how to make them not as severe? I'll try to post a pic of what I'm talking about when its light outside.

Re: Chip in glass ?

You probably will not get them all the way out but sandpaper will soften the edges.

Re: Chip in glass ?

The passengers window on my car has a chip on the top of it. DO NOT sand on glass-trust me I know this. Really the only way to get new looking glass is to get new glass. There are products out that help reduce the small nicks in the whidshield, but once there is a chunk missing like my window not much if any you can do.

Re: Chip in glass ?

I had the same chip in the drivers window of my convertible, and it had to be replaced. Its kinda a pain in the butt, but the results will be a whole lot better than trying 20 different things that might work, and still ending up replacing the glass.

Get used glass!!!

Re: Chip in glass ?

Fix the window stop or you will chip the new glass. The window goes down too far without the rubber stop the edge of the glass gets caught on the screws that hold the outer window sweep on. This problem is not exclusive to convertibles.
