im looking to paint my 86 iroc z wheels a matte black to match with some other parts on the car.....anyone done this or know the kind of paint to use? my worry is that the wheel will overheat and take the paint off, any suggestions appreciated

Re: Black iroc wheels

I used Dupli-Colors line of wheel paint/primer/clear on mine about a year ago and they still look freshly done.

Re: Black iroc wheels

I'm wanting to do the same thing only I was thinking powder coat. Is powder coating rims a good idea or is this dupli-color paint system the way to go?

Re: Black iroc wheels

According to some people powder coating a wheel changes the properties of the aluminum in a negative way.... Allegedly.
