Valve Cover question, can anyone help???

I'm looking at these valve covers for my '87 305 http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...6&lastcat=2626 But they are the opposite of what's on my car stock right now. What I mean is, where these have one hole on the right and 2 on the left, mine has one hole on the left and 2 on the right. Can I just use them on the opposite sides? And if I do that, it makes the words upside down, can I flip them and put the words right side up? But that moves the holes to opposite ends of where they are stock. Does it mattter? I'm just wondering, these aren't my only option, I have another set I'm looking at incase these don't work. Can anyone help??? Thanks.

That the only way you can do it, they will have to be upside down.

That's kind of and kind of not the question. I figured the oil fill cap wouldn't matter, but it's the emissions stuff I'm concerned about, I think it's the EGR and AIR. Those would end up being moved around if I got those covers. Does it not matter where they are???

Try the Edelbock Alum center bolt valve covers, they have the pcv & air openings. Jegs or Summit.

How good can a 40$ set be anyway? I'm thinking about just getting MSD 6A or 6AL instead now... what do you guys think?

Dude you have to remember when they take a pic and publish it, the pic is printed backwards. I called both Summit and Jegs. They said the oil fill and PVC holes are on the drivers side cover.

Who on this board has the $40 valve covers? Are they any good?

I have a $40 set from a local auto store made by Mr.Gasket . No problem what so ever, they look great, I wanted the covers that have a red bowtie on them, but I'm not spending $120 for them. And the oil filler and PCV go on the driver side.

I got my blank, chrome, Mr Gasket valve covers and some other chrome stuff in a set for about $40-$50. They're straight, don't leak, haven't warped, and the chrome hasn't come off. The only thing you pay for with those other valve covers is looks.

Edelbrock valve covers go for $50 a pair at the Autozone here, I'm sure those are pretty good quality... $40 should fetch a perfectly good set...

Okay, I fail to see the problem with the valve covers. The driver's side cover is in the top of the pic, the passenger's is on the bottom. It does not matter what side they go on.

killer305 was right on. about a half-a second, maybe a little less.

I have the valve covers with the Red Chevy Symbol in the middle on mine (the ones on all the crate engines), I bought them off ebay for $53 bucks shipped with a breather already in it for passenger side. I love ebay They look brand new, even underneath the cover, it was pretty clean. I'd try ebay for a nice set of valve covers cheap, cuz you might find the valve covers you want there cheaper. Just type in centerbolt valve covers, or put a space between center and bolt, you'll get more people when you try both, lol.

I agree e-bay rules..valve covers go cheap there,I was going to sell a set of new chrome high rise with bow ties stamped in them that I had untill I looked at what they were going for and I knew I wasn't gona get the $ I wanted there.I got them as part of a trade and had no use for them.I only wanted $40.A friend came by a few days later and gave me CASH.
I agree $140 is way to much for anything less than a show car.
If your not in a huge hurry I would say check e-bay out first, there may be some there.Thats where I got mine, shipping and all,,around $75.
