This is thirdgen related right?

Just Touring at Road America. But I can't wait to go again in May. Should have enough safety stuff in place that I'll trust the car in a hot session this year. RA punishes brakes with extreme prejudice.

That's awesome! I live about an hour from there, always thought that would be cool to take a few laps around there. Don't quite have the drivetrain/suspension or brakes i'd like at the moment but maybe a few years down the road. By the way, nice taste in cars

We are hopefully returning to RA the first week in may. Even if your car isn't ready for a Hot Session (no thirdgen running street pads and factory brakes is...) you can still do a Touring Session.

Touring has a capped speed limit of 75mph and no passing, but you can still get pretty hot in corners. Example, one of the corners is about a 45mph corner and you can come into that corner about 75mph. I'll see if I can dig up any in-car footage, I know a few people had camera's at the last event.

Looks like fun to me, if you end up doing a hot lap in may you should post some footage of your run.

You should stop by. I've never met a car guy who went in unsure if they'd like it who wasn't a kid in an amusement park after some track time.

Even if your car isn't ready, there are still ways to get on the track. Volunteer some community service and the instructors will take you for a hot session as a passenger in their own cars. There's Touring as well. Ridden in Vipers/GT-Rs/Z06s. Reading about a C6 Z06's capabilities is one thing, but after a 20 minute session your calves begin to BURN from holding yourself back in the seat as a passenger opens your eyes to the sheer capability of the car. We were also hitting 165mph at the braking point in a stock Z06 with only performance brake pads and fluid.

And then if you are ready there's Hot Sessions. I tracked my G6 GTP and even in the rain I was astonished at how well it would get around the track. Of course I did kill the brakes, completely KILLED the brakes. Warped the rear rotors, massive heat spots on the front rotors. Had to turn the front rotors, replace the rear rotors, and do pads all around. I also drove back that year with a jello like brake pedal. I was heading through the Kink at 85mph on wet pavement with my G6. I hit 125mph on the straights and said thats enough I don't trust the brakes. I still killed them in 3 laps.

Last year was a nice resurgence for Thirdgen's, there were a TON of them. Was awesome to see them going down the track. One guy had a solid roller mini-rammed black Formula and he was shifting near the 8000rpm mark. It sounded amazing.

Re: This is thirdgen related right?

LivinLarge- Thanks man appreciate the complements, the wheels are SLP ZR1's. 17x8, painted hyperblack. I love it against the white, looks grayish at night but when the light hits em they're bright and easy to clean. Also, I've got it lowered on eibach sportline springs, 1.6in drop up front, 1.3in drop in the rear. Also have KYB struts all the way around. Also have another pic under my profile in my album from a show i went to last summer if you want to see a side profile pic

Thirdgen89GTA- You're convincing me more and more man, do they hold it every weekend or is it just in may when you're going? How much does the stuff cost if you don't mind me asking, sounds like a blast, i'd love to take mine around on a tour, just not hotlap ready at all. Also, going around in a ZO6 would be an awesome experience even if i was just a passenger.

Re: This is thirdgen related right?

As awesome as that would be the MFBA's Road America rental is actually a private rental.

The MFBA rents the track for saturday and sunday. Then the club pays for track insurance to cover the event as well as corner workers. Event staff and Instructors are all volunteers. People either pay for single sessions, days, or the whole weekend. Instruction is free and we got some cool instructors who volunteer their time.

Touring is a blast, no helmet needed and you'd probably use about half a tank of gas, you can toss the car fairly hard in most corners too. I or one of the other club members usually lead Touring, or we put an instructor out front.

I could listen to the noises made at the track all day long, who needs music with the engines roaring around the track in the background.

If you come out I'm sure i can find an instructor willing to take you around the track in their car. Just bring your helmet. Hot Sessions have to have helmets, Snell SA2005 or newer. When I last rode with Jeff in his Z06 we were clocking 165mph, the front straight is 4100ft long and you don't start it standing still.

There's lots of
.3..35i39.350.2560.0.2724.17.17.0.0.0.0.120.1241.14j3.17.0...0.0...1ac.1.DZbimf0Seok from the event.

Yeah.

Group A (Assertive)
Group B (Advanced)
Group C (Intermediate)
Group D (Novice)

D Group requires instructor rides until they sign off on a check-ride for solo outings.

You might see some guy with a Ferrari in C group and he'll have an instructor for a check ride. Or you could see a Spec Miata with a very experienced driver who doesn't want to get trampled by faster cars.

B Group usually more experienced drivers in older/mid range sports cars. But there are the odd Z06/GTR type cars in B group. Bone stock top tier 3rd and 4th gens can be found here with experienced drivers.

A Group is for very experienced drivers in fast cars. A group might find a stock C6 Z06 on the track with a Ferrari 430, Ariel Atoms, Radical...or even a 1000rwhp Twin Turbo Ultima GTA. You'll also find TT1 and TT2 class cars here.

There's more info here on the MFBA Road America site. Still being updated as things are ironed out for this year so info might change a bit. But the date is confirmed as May 8th and 9th this year.
