Thought on bras?

I have an 83 T/A that's been garaged for life. The body shop I use doesn't recommend a bra since it might cause the paint to sweat (and it's all original paint that's rarely been in the sun/never been in rain).

What's the best way to prevent rock chips without a bra? Thanks!

Clear 3M stuff... Looks like window tint but it's clear. Look into it.

Bra's should be left for women. Not cars.

My Camaro has just the hood bra on it and it's hiding a bad spot-the PO put it on there and I was going to take it off, but once I seen the spot on the hood I left it on till I do the body work. Leave the bra off the car and in the 80's LOL!

Re: Thought on bras?

When I worked in the Parts business, anytime someone asked for a Bra, I asked if the front of the car was starting to sag.

Sadly, most did not get it.

Agreed, only on women!

Re: Thought on bras?

I have always had one on my car and it has never caused a problem. I don't use mine in the rain though. Just go with a higher quality brand that fits super tight and doesn't flop around and paint will be fine.

Re: Thought on bras?

no way man! not unless you have lousey paint and tring to hide something. the bra will cause far more damage than rock chips . IMO stay off peoples buts and avoid dumptrucks and rigs at all costs . you can look into clear plastidip ,or even black so you can peel it off . but that may affect uv rays too i'm not sure.

How long has it been on the car?

Most I have seen with one after any legnth of time, the paint fades on the rest of the car and not under the bra.

Most I have seen damage the paint after time too.

Re: Thought on bras?

You should use 3m clear film. It is the best way to protect paint with no adverse effects. Most high end sports cars have them.

A friend of mine has a Porsche GT3 and it had a clear bra on it. He removed it with no problems to the paint at all.

Re: Thought on bras?

I've been using one for 27 years, since I bought the car. Zero issue with it. Love it. No scratches, hazing, damage. People have issues because of abuse and neglect. Getting them wet or having dirt/dust under them and not installing them properly. I see the bugs and crap after night drives that wipes right off the bra. Don't blame the product, blame the user.

Rock chips show up in the strangest places. There not large on my car but teeny tiny dots. Nothing major. My car has a beautiful paint job that 6 years old and is my DD.If you want to drive your car on a regular bases than you just have to byte the bullet and except the fact there will be chips.
The advice about not fallowing trucks closely helps but I would be more concerned about the guy that parks right next to you .(door dings).I park at the most remote spot on the lot and there's still some guy that wants to park next to me.
