Re: Shining Monkey
Its gimick garbage...They launched in the US like 10 years ago when I was big into detailing.
The products are cheap and low quality, glazes are extremely hard to remove. I bought there D spec line back in 2004.
From what I remember none of the products where scented except for the car wash which was bubblegum.
The polishes, wax, and glaze all came out of the bottle looking and smelling the same, just like some cheap turtle wax or no7.
I remember they were all hard o remove with exception to the glaze which was extremely hard to remove. All liquid, no paste.
Tire shine was the best of the bunch, no spit was true and pretty long lasting, but not water based so I wouldn't use it on anything.
The quick detailer wasn't quick it required excessive buffing, and still had trouble removing streaks on slightly dirty paint. It only worked right after a full wash, polish, and wax, on a smooth sqeeky clean surface.
They probably moved to the UK because they couldnt hit a wide enough spread market. No one in the pro detailing world will use the products. They target young import tuners with young girls, nice cars, and cool graphics. You will see reviews on evolution forums, honda, nissan... Do a search on some well known pro detailing forums like autopia, and autogeek if your interested.
Stay away from their stuff.

Re: Shining Monkey
I have used tons of products, and have been part of many detailing focused forums, autopia, autogeek...
The first think I recommend is joining a detailing focused forum. A place to ask questions and know you will get the right feedback and answers.
I stick with meguiars professional line mostly because they are great and work extremely well + you can get them in bulk for a good price. They also make a lot of body shop friendly products. But I also use menzerna, poor boys, sonax, klasse, dodo, wolfgang,...
If you have questions on specific products and how to use them, let me know. I can do my best to point you in the right direction.
If you guys are actually interested I can make up a list of what I use for what purposes.....Maybe on a different thread or something.

Re: Shining Monkey
It doesnt look like pro stuff to me more retail aimed at the average joe so to speak.
The only recent reviews i can find see to rave about how easy it is to get off.
They are doing a load of promo stuff with Ken Block it looks like as well
