My 91 'Model' in Progress...
Well I'm kind of into hobbies and doing models and whatnot, so i started working on a model of my car... 91 Z28. So far I've got the motor done and i do a little more each day, since I'm very precise with my work.
I'll update pics upon request. Let me know what you guys think.. Hope you'll like it

In between watching the Devils game and working on this I got some suspension parts painted, rear end painted, exhaust painted, and got the manifolds glued on. :-)

Re: My 91 'Model' in Progress...
I found a beat-up 1/16-scale model by Ertl and will have to get the paint mixed at the paint store to match mine. They quoted me $30 to $40 for a spray can
Also had to find wheels since mine was missing two of them. But hey, it's fun to build scale cars.
Looked for plastic models, but it seems they skipped the 1984 Trans Am - lol.

To the OP: I'd like to see updates as well. I also bought a camaro model after I got my 92 and plan on making a miniature of my camaro. Only problem I have is finding an earlier Z28 hood with the lovers to match what is on the car.

Nope, you can find them. Try searching for Knight Rider or KITT on modeling sites or fleabay

Looks good man-I use to build model's all the time when i was younger, but once I could have real cars I stopped. I tried to get back into it a few times, but can't-would rather work on my RS. keep up the good work.

That looks great, does any company make a 1:18 scale mid '80's trans am? Preferably in die-cast.

I love doing scale models. I wish I could find this kit. Only thing is, is the spoiler removable? and I would have to change the hood some how to make it look like mine.

looking good! nice work. if you really want to go for detail, ive seen guys cut up little pieces of phone wire and super glue them on as sparkplug wires. its tedious, but adds more detail.

Re: My 91 'Model' in Progress...
I actually use fishing line on all my models. Haha. I'm 21 so my eyes aren't too shot yet. To answer everyone's question altogether, I got this from J Bar Hobbies in Michigan. Got to me in three days. Yes the spoiler is removable. And as I said before this is the 92 Heritage model that I'm making look like my 91 minus the stripes. My car has ghost flames...but I'm not that talented to put flames on a model. Things guys

Re: My 91 'Model' in Progress...
Didnt feel like playing hockey with my buddys today, so I got some more work done. Seats which match mine exactly, and painted the wheels white as they should be. I also put little black triangles in the wheels, since they are actually solid...so I kind of wanted the effect you can see thru them.

Re: My 91 'Model' in Progress...
Thanks, yes I made that model several years ago. The 1:24 Monogram kit was Bright Red so it only needed several coats. The wheels came from a 1:24 Monogram kit of a 1987 GTA and I able to use the tinted rear glass also from that kit. The hood supports are really the rear shocks. Enclosed is a picture of the real Formula, and also the Banshee Concept car that the 1991-92 Firebirds copied some of the styling cues.

Re: My 91 'Model' in Progress...
a little tip on the tires, if you didnt already know is to take some sand paper and scuff the tread area that naturally touches the ground. It adds quite a bit of realism.
Great work guys.

Well.... Im finally done..except for the makeshift hood support lol Good amount of pictures to put up. It could have been a little better (a little orange peel and the wheelgap) but im happy with the outcome. Hope you guys like it! Please tell me if you dont

[QUOTE=edpontiac91;5558279]Just a few pictures of my 1991 Formula with some of my add on mods, such as a STB in the engine bay, dual dual exhaust tips, black diamond Trans Am wheels and a tinted rear hatch.
/QUOTE]
Yeah , I photo shopped my car years ago with dual-dual round exhaust sticking horizontally out just beneath the bumper and decided those cars would have looked better like that than the factory hidden dual exhausts.

Looks good!
I wanna do the same to match my car as well. Except I'd need a c6 model as well to steal parts from as well.
Anyone know if you can get a cowl hood for a model as well?
A model would keep me busy and alot cheaper than working on the actual car itself.
