Re: No June COTM?
Well there was an issue that happened in the last COTM, I wont get into what it was as they deleted it all and I think it should stay that way, Hopefully they will bring it back as it was a good point of this site, Maybe if enough people request that it comes back maybe they will.
So I say please bring it back,

Re: No June COTM?
People were being jerks online about each others' cars weren't they? If so, that sucks because it took a lot of fun out of the website and what a lot of people look forward to seeing and reading about :/

Re: No June COTM?
I'm not going to say what went on, I think it should be dropped, forgotten about, and never brought up again,
What I will say is that who ever would like COTM brought back is to Let the site know we want it back, So lets turn this thread into bring back COTM. And anyone one that wants it back just tell them here. You know they will at least read it.

Such a shame.... this isnt about that New York or NJ club getting involved is it?
I always figured it would devolve into a bunch of cheating, posturing, and jealousy in the end. It was just a way to recognize nice cars and people with no class always ruin these kinds of things.

I'll agree. It seems that things are real quiet around here since that went away. Bummer that a few bad apples can ruin a good thing for everybody.

Re: No June COTM?
To me the fact that two people have to suggest your car to nominate it was one of more beautiful parts of the system. It means only regular contributors to the site that get noticed can be nominated and it prevents people with crappy cars from cluttering up the poll. Everyone would just vote their own car and be done with it. To me the best thing you can do for the legitimacy of it is to limit the options somehow, and the way it was done was very nice, I think.

EX of LS1tech rules for COTM:
"High-res pictures only, no camera phones, no babes, and one submission per member!"
The moderator makes a submission thread and closes it at the end of the submission time period. Next he then makes a voting thread for that month with the pics from the submission thread, basically the way its done here. You could always add more rules to make it more legitimate.

I'm guessing you don't want it to come back by the way you are writing and that is your choice, And if you don't like it you don't have to read it.
The moderator of COTM has a big job to do and in my opinion does a great job, And he doesn't get payed for it, I hope He does decide to reinstate it again, My thanks goes out to him for all he has done

Re: No June COTM?
I believe the way Thirdgen does it is better, Having others nominate a person car means way more to who ever car it is than just you nominating yourself,

Oh, I'm fine with it coming back, and would love for it to comeback. I just don't like how its done to get your car in, but that is my thing. Voting and seeing the pics of some truly amazing thirdgens is one of the best thing about the site. If they do it the LS1tech way u would get more cars to vote on, and it might avoid whatever happened with the COTM thread in the past. Even with users submitting their own pics in this thread below, they only got 17 cars.

Bottom line, I think TGO should bring it back in some form.

Re: No June COTM?
I'm pretty sure BADNBLK said he would be bringing it back around July or August. He wanted the COTM to take a break due to the events that transpired.
I agree with most everyone here, bring it back! I always admired the good-natured and in-corrupted nature of the COTM, where everyone was a good sport. I had a feeling this would eventually happen.

Re: No June COTM?
I'm sure Brandon, who is the one that is responsible for helping to organize and oversee ThirdGen's COTM, appreciates the interest that the COTM brings to the community and the desire expressed to see it continue. Although there may have been a few issues along the way and sometimes things need addressed, which comes with such a program, I would consider the COTM a success because it has been good for both ThirdGen.org and for ThirdGens when it showcases some of the best ThirdGens and allows others to see just how nice these cars can be. It goes beyond the community. Brandon and those who participate and supply a nice example of a ThirdGen are responsible for making the COTM a success. I, too, would like to see the COTM continue with Brandon's continued involvement.

Glad to see that the program was missed by many. I'm happy with the program in its current form, but will make adjustments as needed. RIGHT NOW... Go nominate someone! The page is up and its an open month for any third gen!
Thanks JT!

Re: No June COTM?
My issue with COTM is that they all seem like cars with huge investments of money, labor, or both. If COTM wasn't based on how the car looks / how much has been done to it, I might like it better. Rule out restorations and low-mile survivors as well as mega-investments, then I'd like to see the return. And most real race cars qualify as mega-investments. I don't read Super Chevy or PHR, I read Car Craft. so let's make it real-world. I know my own third-gen is too crap at present, and I'm okay with that for now.
