to tint or not? "Post pics of tinted Thirdgens"

I had my cars windows tinted over the weekend. Had been kicking the idea around for a while and spur of the moment had it done. Still not sure how I feel about it although as soon as they pulled it out I got an offer for the car from an awaiting customer (female) who used to own a 91 z28. We were unable to agree on a deal. I was hoping that if I didn't want it it could be removed. I know I should have asked for some opinions at an earlier date. Maybe this can help others with the decision in the future.

It looks pretty good! I've never been a fan of the strip on the windshield, but that's just how I feel. I've been wanting to at least do my back window.

What did it end up costing you if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, so does yours. I had someone quote me $150 llumar tint but ended up paying $250 somewhere else spur of the moment 3m tint. I'm hoping that if I end up not liking something about it I can remove it without to much trouble. All of the people that have seen the car before and after so far like the way it looks. I never thought about a windshield strip at all, so I just had them put it on. Didn't really like it when they started slamming the power hatch closed. I should of given them a heads up on that.

be aware that the police in the place where you live may not take too kindly to your tint. it seems to offend them somehow.

Re: to tint or not? "Post pics of tinted Thirdgens"

I went back and forth on tinting as well. Decided to go with tint to protect the back seats from fading and keep the car cooler when road tripping.

I am aware of this, and was worried, but from what I have read, they can not issue a SERO (service equipment repair order) on a vehicle with historic tags in the state of Maryland because they do not require a Maryland safety inspection. That being said I still am somewhat concerned and will have to wait and see. Worse case scenario is I remove the window tint and go back to a more original looking car. I will probably drive a little less aggresively now so I don't aggrevate the situation.

Protecting my interior from uv was my number one reason. Keeping the car cooler was a bonus that I noticed immediately on the ride home from the tint shop. My 23 year old ac system was working with ease and noticeably better.

35% on sides and back window. Gives any car a great look, and IMO best on white cars

Sucks getting it off if you change your mind or the tint gets messed up. It took me awhile to get it off the back window without messing up the defrost lines.

Did you actually get it all off without messing up the defroster?

It would be nice if the majority of cars on Craigslist looked like these. I'd be going to look at a lot of cars instead of posting on TGO.

I love that, looks amazing.

Think tints look great all, good choice. The TA with 5% looks bad ***

Re: to tint or not? "Post pics of tinted Thirdgens"

i would never get the strip across the windshield unless it was designed to fade in like the factory tint[no line].reflective tint is out too.i do want my windows darkened to the legal limits.

Looks Great 71 Nova.

I tinted my windows recently. I really wanted a tint strip that fades, however I was told they no longer make those due to legal issues. So I wen't with a regular tint strip. So far I like it. It makes the car look more aggressive, epecially in darker light. Looks alot better than the 35% that I had on it.

Re: to tint or not? "Post pics of tinted Thirdgens"

I think it's a must with T-top cars. I don't bring mine out unless it's nice weather, windows down and T-tops out. So no problem from police and looks tight parked.

Re: to tint or not? "Post pics of tinted Thirdgens"

It's not for looks for me... it's necessary, black Firebird, Floriday & T Tops...
I also have a note from my doctor & Florida stating I can use any tint and even the windshield due to medical reasons.. 35% seems to work on my daily driver, so will probably go that route with Firebird... too dark is harder to see at night...

For those considering, get the 1 piece rear hatch, not strips...

Also, they are making Blue Air that helps with glare / uv but isn't dark like the traditional tint...

http://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance...arge-pics.html

I'm still holding out for Transitions tint
