Re: Whats Your Winter Project

sofar the plan is:
-finish up the garage
-strip the Z-28 down to the shell
-cut and patch rust spots
-prep for paint
-finish the LB9 carb'd build
-hopefully start re-assembling

also have to put a ski rack on the caddy after I get back from work

Gonna finish my project that was started almost 3 years ago. Got it on the road this spring but this winter its getting; subframe connectors, all rubber suspension components replaced with poly, shocks and struts, paint, and maby a new engine.

Re: Whats Your Winter Project

I'm redoing the floors in my house. Looks like there was water damage at some point in the past so this turned into a bigger project than i thought. I'll continue saving money this year and next year I hope to start a new project.

s10 xtreme with a cammed and stalled ls 5.3 swap. Should be fun!

I bought a 97 Z28 with a very nice 383 LT1 6spd last month, my winter plans are to find a nice 85-87 SC camaro to transplant the entire drivetrain into. I hope it'll be a fun sleeper.

Re: Whats Your Winter Project

Not a whole lot of interesting stuff for me this year.

BlueZee
  • Hybrid hawks double hump cross member with the T/A mount from the existing Spohn piece
  • Swapping in an aluminum driveshaft with an upgraded 1350 u joint for my 8.8"
  • Custom made late 4th gen Camaro leather seats (medium grey with ebony black perforated inner sections w/ black embroidered Z28 logos on headreasts

2009 G8 GT
  • 6000k HID low beams
  • Solo axle back exhaust (already done)

2013 Sierra
  • GM chrome nerf bars
  • Some sort of stainless steel catback system, haven't picked out one in particular yet

LS1/T56 swap
LS1 brake swap
Re-repair cracked frame rail behind steering gearbox while motor is out.
Hopefully it will be done by Thirdgenfest (Memorial Day Weekend) but thats pretty optimistic goal.

Re: Whats Your Winter Project

Every bushing, every energy absorbing component, every single suspension piece on my Camaro is getting replaced. A few items are being added i.e. subframe connectors and steering brace. Fully rebuilt steering linkage. Everything. Cannot take this squeaky rattle trap of a car any longer. That's all I have planned for the winter.

Finish the LS1 swap in my 1969 firebird. The IROC's winter plans are it will probably just sit on dollies with the cover on it. I would like to replace the TPI gaskets but that probably wont happen. I think I have put 100 miles on the car this year... sad.

Pull motor stud the block multi layered head gasket. Port the 113 heads and port the tpi base. Get some forged +12cc 355 pistons and maybe stroke it. All for a 200 shot off the juice. Msd box

Not have a rod knock, hit high RPM's without worrying too much about my bottom end giving out. Plus, it's a good .030 over shortblock. Saving some cash, I guess. It's still gonna put out more power than that 350 that's coming out.

Haul my car down to SC for a visit with Bruce to finish off my motor work and a new tune. Shooting for about or over 450rwhp when it's done. Then, depending on how much money is left maybe paint and body work. I'd really like to get my car done and ready for F-Body Beach Bash at Myrtle Beach this year.

Came out to $800 which included the embroidered emblems and they went through and painted the tracks for the front seats and prepped/painted the front seat trim pieces grey, since they were black originally.

Re: Whats Your Winter Project

Just rebuilt my 355... It's now a 360 w/ 87 Corvette L98 Aluminum heads. Scat forged rods, Speed Pro forged flat tops, and a Comp Cams 268H.

The early snow in MA is killing me! My car is covered... I need to get the car towed to my new shop space, but it is completely buried :/

Mock up picture... Yes it's very red. Should look okay with the silver serp setup up front.
