How does this look ?

I found these door panels at pick and pull.
They were filthy and missing most of the back.

Whoever had these used bolts from the front and they left nasty holes.
I got them for $ 5.00 each because they were damaged.

They were going to just be a temporary fix but I’ve been using them for a while now in my DD, and they have kind of started to look "not so bad".
So how do they look ?

I fail to see what you thought was bad about those, they look right at home.

Re: How does this look ?

That's what I was hoping to hear.
I just remember telling myself when putting them on "this is going to look trashy."
Have you priced new OE reproduction panels. $199.00 and I have not seen any other style that look good to me.

I think I should have posted this in "Interior"

They look just fine, clearly in an ideal world you wouldn't want the push-pins to be visible, but since you took your time they turned out good. No use breaking the bank for new ones, those do the job!

As a side project you could try making your own from scratch. Not that hard and maybe cost $20 per side. Couple threads on here how to do it. My first attempt didn't look bad, I just used lower quality material which didn't allow it to hold up.

Re: How does this look ?

Considering it's not factory; Yours look pretty good. Those look borderline factory. and the aftermarket replacement panels look like crap.

Here is what the replacement panels look like BTW:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...anels-wtf.html

To me the replacement panels look bad. Your factory modified ones look better than the replacement ones.

Depending on what the rest of your interior looks like (dash pad & Center console lid); you would be better off putting the $200 that reproduction pieces cost towards other parts of your interior that need to be restored.

Nothing looks worst than a cracked up dash or a beat up pealing center console lid in third gen interiors. A close third and forth would be torn seats & ruined door panels.
How does the rest of your interior look? I see your door armrests look good and are not pealing.

Good luck with your build.

Re: How does this look ?

This is my first build ever and the car was pulled out of some guy’s back yard for $ 500.00. That was 8 years ago. The "entire" inside was either missing or trashed.

The armrest/console in the middle of the front seats needs replacing and the carpet need a good cleaning but I think the rest looks good for a DD.

That dash cover is covering a pristine dash. I even used some black felt on the corners that were not covered by the pad.
The seats came (very dirty)from a wrecking yard.

The last photo is one of my favorites except it was back when I had seat covers over trashed front seats.

Re: How does this look ?

Your interior is decent considering the little money you've put into it.

But the middle console lid; its ruined.

For less than $120 you can get a brand new one:

The quality is excellent. You don't realize how nice it is to have a working latch on your middle console until you have one lol. That and they look great when there not all pealed up.

The replacement dash pads on the other hand are expensive. They are about $350-$450 depending on where you look. But they are nice.

Nice car btw. I like it. It's nice seeing a 3rd gen with a good paint job.

Re: How does this look ?

Thanks ,

Pieces I needed for the interior mostly have come from wrecking yards.
Finally after saving for almost two years I met my friends asking price.
I did not skimp there. He used the best PPG has to offer in a B/C including Crystal red pearl additive.

The interior is coming along slowly mainly finding seats that I want to recover took me along time to find the right ones with high backs with a decent foundation to work with.

Here’s a little list as to some of the things that have been replaced and a photo of what the seats and carpet will look like when I'm done.
Here’s a link to where I will go to finish the seats = http://www.lethalinteriors.com/ Just click on the tab called 'Seats" and I think you will be impressed.

Needed a fuel pump ,water pump , power steering unit ,new steering column/ VATS module ,intake manifold gasket, front windshield ,new front bumper cover and lower valance, new rear hatch and motor, all of the interior including headliner ,door skins, etc.

Those seats will look really good when recovered like the ones above.
