Faded Paint or Wrong color
Hey guys my dads got an 88 iroc that he just painted a hood for, problem is the hood is way lighter then the rest of the car. He used the paint that he used on a 89 bright red iroc. The 88 has the same color code as the 89 but it just seems way to far off. Just curious if the colors changed at all between 88 and 89 or if something else might be happening. Also i do know that new paint will never match old paint perfectly. The pictures make the colors look pretty close but in person its a drastic difference. Thanks for any input!

Re: Faded Paint or Wrong color
Figured it out. The car was repainted a darker and they did a really good job doing it. Only part that they missed was behind the gas door. Now the entire car needs to be repainted...

Having the same color code doesn't mean that two cars will be identical colors. Often times there are several shades of the same color. Changes in temp/humidity during painting can change the color. Sun exposure/how it was stored/washed/cared for can change how it looks now.
Given the paint quality of these cars when new....it's a crap shoot as to what it ends up looking like now.
Best bet would have been to blend it in with the fenders/doors/bumper.
