Firebird SunCoast Vs. ASCD Ram Air Hood 3rd Gen

I reading through the next generation camaro and firebird parts catalog and I noticed two different ram air hood manufacturers who produce them, the Sun Coast is around 800 while the ASCD is priced at 400, I called to order the ASCD and they said some buyers complained about the fitting of this one. I guess there was alot of cutting and stuff still required. Does the Sun Coast creations hood fit without any cutting or mods to the hood? I was just wondering because of the price difference. I wanna purchase one without all the cutting I just want it to fit right out of the box. Have any of you purchased either one of these? What troubles have you gone through to make it fit. Thanks

The biggest reason for a difference in price is the Suncoast hood comes with an airbox to make the hood functional. The ASCD hood routes the air to an opening on the pass. side where the stock airbox is located. I got in on the first batches of the ASCD hood and have absolutly no complaints. It did need some work but every fiberglass hood does if you want it to look perfectly. My body man said it's the best glass hood he's ever worked on.

I know a couple of years ago Suncoast was getting hammered by the 4th gen guys for terrible hoods. I haven't heard much lately so I am assuming they stepped up their quality.

I got my Turbo Daytona hood from ASCD. It fit like a glove. Now trimming required. Out of the box it lined up perfectly. I needed to shim the hood latch though. And to make the paint job look sweet, it needed a little touch up on the gel coat (there was a nick or two and a small scratch)....

Granted, I know it's not a Ram Air hood, but I thought I'd through my input about an ASCD hood... I'm a very pleased customer.

my body guy said the same thing about my ASCD hood-one of the best glass hoods he's ever done. i've had mine on about a year and a half now, and it's still looking good.
