Well here in New York, we are no longer able to have front tint on any passenger car. So today I removed the tint on the whole car, because I'm due for a inspection. Do other states have the same law as ours here in New York?

 

That absolutely sucks!!! The amount of cars I see on our roads with tint is to the point where more cars have tint that don't have it. Even cop cars I've seen. It helps keep things cool in the summer as well as for looks. I also see a huge number of seniors with window tint, as sun bothers a lot of people as they get a bit older. What about them? They have to suffer.
so many rules... everytime you turn around theres something people are "doing wrong". Your soon gonna need a permit to bang your spouse for f's sake.

 

Thinkin Kansas is 35% sides 25% rear or something stupid like that. Generally if I'm gonna bother I'd go 20% all around and not give the authorities excuses to pull me over.

I've got 5% on the 1/4 windows and back glass of my Mustang. Last officer mentioned the cracked windshield, but not the tint. It helps to be courteous and respectful.

Inspections seem like a commie idea if I've ever heard one. Best suggestion is to not live in a commie state.

We have the same law in CA. Seems that a lot of people still ignore it.

 

Jersey's the same, you can only tint if you have a medical condition, which strikes me odd because I see a lot of cars with the tint, even Police cars.

 

New York says it's for police safety. I can see that, but if you have tint you can't get a inspection unless you have a medical reason. Like my business partner, his wife has lupus and can't be in the sun very long.

 

az has side tint laws and as dark as you want it on the backs.

that being said, all my rides have limo all the way around and 30% across the ENTIRE windshield. you cant see in the front window from outside, and it keeps the car nice and cool. been pulled over for 'illegal tint' 3 times since 1992 ($100 fine). so it's a gamble i have no problem taking.

 

Michigan is a No Side Tint state (none for 2 doors, none for front doors on a 4 door).

I had a sedan and a minivan with side tint. I never had any trouble.
