Hey guys, I wanna tint the windows of my car myself 1. to see if I can do it and 2. if I can do it save a litlle money. what I was wondering is where can I get some good quality(like 3M) 5% window tinting? I can't seem to find it anywhere. thanks

DEEEEEEEAAAAAMN, 5%? Darkest I've ever heard of was 8%. And I've actually seen 35% which was pretty dark.. at least in the picture I saw.

 

I might of heard wrong, I heard 5% is the darkest you can go. it could be 8% though.

35% is the darkest you can have the Tint over here in MA.

 

5% is the darkest (limo tint). I wouldn't get it if I were you. You will not be able to see out of your windows at night at all. You will hit cars when you back out of a parking spot, etc... You COULD get around that by rolling down your windows but that would get to be a bitch this time of year. I have 15% and you can hardly see in it. And on a over cast day you cant see in at all. Keep in mind that cops will pull you over if they think it is too dark. The limit here is 25% and I got 15% so it is close enough to where I dont get messed with by the cops. But I have gotten to where I dont like it all that much. TO ME it isnt dark enough but my friends like it. I plan on doing 10% on the hatch, 12% on the sides, and 20% on the windsheild. I can get some pics if you want.

 

Pictures would be great, I want tint dark enought that you can't see in, but I can see out. Also where did you get your tint to do it yourself? None of the tinting shops around here will sell you the tint. I'm not worried about getting a ticket either, I would like to be able to see out though when it is dark, I didn't even think of that :-) Thanks.

 

They should do it. The way it is here is they will tint your windows as dark as you want you just wont get a receipt. So all they do is save their *** from the cops. I can try to get a picture but I will have to hunt down my friend with the camera. Give me a day or two.

 

Ok thats fine, I want to put the window tint on by myself though. I can't find anyplace to seel it to me. I found places that will install it for about $300. I'd like to try to save some $ and do it myself. If I can :-) I figured I'd try before I pay them to do it.
