That's fine and dandy but we're limited to the 12 contestants here of course.

Alright, I kind of figured the Wave Rider award would go unclaimed but you never know what you might learn about people unless you try!

Today's category: The "Hand-Me-Down" award for cars that have been handed down to you from a family relative.

I think that award should go to Cehbra. His car was imported from U.S. to Switzerland

This is the last Participation Award.

Today's category: "The Bandit" award for car with most tickets.

The "Hand-Me-Down" award is still up for grabs.

The Bandit award is for the current car? In my old 87 IROC that was fast I got almost 30 tickets. I lost my license twice, took driver re-training but I beat most of the tickets once I learned how to fight them. Most were non-speeding but I was able to beat some speeding too. I had to start avoiding that town because the cops were brutal and driving past them in a loud, nice looking IROC as a 17 year old was a giant middle finger to them.

I bought a bone stock convertible and don’t care about power and 1/4 mile times anymore because the cops beat all that out of me.. I’m just happy to cruise around and turn heads these days. I don’t even know how people can drive those 450-800 hp cars around..

Dude.. It was not a fun time.. I did join the Citizen’s Police Academy in the town which was held at my high school and got to know all the cops. They cut me some slack after that.. I have a perfect driving record now..

Tires. You need really sticky tires. And mostly you just make a bunch of noise and playfully goose it now and then.

New cars have gotten faster and faster. I can totally see getting in a lot of trouble in a new car because they are so civil and the only way to have fun is bury the throttle.

My old Firebird assaults your senses, constantly reminding you that it's not civil. It's rowdy, it romps, it howls.... and you haven't even stabbed the throttle yet. You can have gobs of fun just driving the car. I have friends that bought new cars and you know what?... turns out it's not much fun being the same as everybody else. What's lacking is they just don't feel cool like they did in their old cars.

Sooooo true. My iroc probably has about 400 hp. Same as my dad's '12 c6. My car feels like driving a nascar/stock car! Dad's is like driving a camry. ...most fun I think I've had in a car was my buddies 68 RS/SS 327/4 speed. -and it was NOT dialed in. Just an old worn out muscle car. -and it was glorious!!!!! Best performance CAR I ever drove was a c6 Z06, and it felt like a camry....under 80mph and under 5000 rpms.

Re: 2018 Thirdgen.org Car of the Year

My Firebird makes little under 700 rwhp and with the TH400 3.50 rear end gear etc it is fun to drive but it is smooth and not too brutal The drag radials lower gearing and LS1 ecm makes it safe and predictable. I drive mine all over. It doesn't matter if it is 15 minute trip or an hour or so away rain or shine. I wouldn't hesitate to take it. Even with the 3 speed it isn't bad on gas. The other items which helps is a good torque converter which is tight when cruising and opens up under load.

I agree things like this make it fun. I think it is awesome that we enjoy our cars in different ways and all have different point of views, but love Fbodies. Linson and QwkTrip thank you both for all you do!

Alright, nobody appears to want to compete against 88IROCvertZ for 'The Bandit' award and his nearly 30 tickets while driving a 3rd gen. We have a winner! Perhaps even a COTM record that will stand for a long, long time!

I could have used that help myself back in the day. There was a year, I think around '85 I got about 12-14 in one year. 40 points! The Ticket Clinic even gave up on me. Lost my licence for a year and a month. I got a hardship license but no one would insure me for even a Mustang II! I had to buy a motorcycle to be able to get to and from work, you did not have to have insurance on a bike.

July, 2018. The tie was between Manic Z and Ja85z28. Nobody knew who the winner was until the COTM winner thread

Both are super awesome cars!

Re: 2018 Thirdgen.org Car of the Year

I was in a tie once in December 2016 I believe.. Linson voted for the other car, but I understood.. The tie was with an impressive build of a Firebird saved from the grave. He was very diplomatic as usual and explained the decision very well.

Is this the voting record?

We have have the lowest mile car vs. the fastest car.. pretty cool..Good luck guys!

Re: 2018 Thirdgen.org Car of the Year

Thank you every one of you that voted for me. So many awesome cars! I am honored to be nominated by @maks10. My car has been evolving and getting better each year. It has been a fun process. Looking back this year it has been fun with my best et, Photo shoot for FSC, September COTM and now COTY. I also want to thank Linson for all he does for COTM and COTY.

Thank you!

Re: 2018 Thirdgen.org Car of the Year

Where are the details on our COTY winner? I've seen a couple of write ups but still looking for the secret sauce that gets this car into the 9's.
Curious minds want to know.
