Rear Window Wiper

Here is an ingenious idea for all you hatch back guys that can't see out the rear.

This car is for sale for a mere 25K! Below is a link to the dealer add.

They were an option in the first few years of the 3rd gens, you can see the mist/sprayer nozzle on the roof right above the hatch glass.

A little welding, grinding, filler, and paint - we can fix that right up in a jiffy.

Never saw the point of the rear wiper, but I also don't mind rear window louvers or 5% tint on the hatch. Rearward visibility is overrated.

85 was the last year they were available. I don't believe it would really function well with snow.

It wasn't a well thought out option either. It uses a power window motor. It is noisy and slow. Mine works but in the 30 years I have owned my car I can count on one hand the number of times I have used it.

Code C25,... Rear Wiper Washer was available till sometime in 86.

Unless it's a car that's driven every-day. The rear hatch wiper was one of the best features of my Thirdgen when I first bought it and used the car as a daily driver,... yes - thru the winter. When I was driving my other Thirdgens - without the rear wiper option - I often wished it was installed on those other cars. No; It's not going to push 3" of snow from the hatch, but that's a big piece of glass to have to scrape ice from first thing every morning. Rather than scraping it off I could just hit the defroster button after start-up (warm-up) and then push the Rear Wiper when I got back in and drive away . That rear hatch isn't always the easiest thing to see out of when driving in wet weather & the rear wiper was always a HUGE help.

The rear wiper shown on the car in the first post is mounted WAY wrong,...... the blade should be all the way at the bottom of the glass.

I can see where this would be a big help, especially with early morning dew.
I guess there was not enough "call" for this option and that is why it ended mid yr, 86'
