4th gen spacers

Let's say that someone's grandfather owned a machine shop. Could I..I mean that person possibly make his/her own spacers or would they be unbalanced?

Does it have to be someones grandfather?
What if it is thier father? My friends father has a machine shop and probably could make them, I just decided to get a set from Vette Brakes.
