August 2019 COM **Nomination Thread**
This is a Nomination Thread for cars that will compete for this month's Car of the Month honor. The 12 (or less) most popularly nominated cars will be compiled into a *Voting Thread* in a couple of weeks. If you do not nominate a member's car for COTM, you can still second or third (fourth, fifth, so on) someone else's nomination. Cars must have at least a second nomination in order to make the Voting Thread. If you are new to the TGO COTM nomination process, please read and understand the following rules before putting forward a nomination:
OPEN SEASON
Any very high quality, finished, stock or modified 1982-92 Camaro or Firebird.
- Do not nominate your own car. Your car must be nominated by another TGO Member.
- Do not ask your wife, husband, friends, extended family, etc. to register as TGO Members for the purpose of nominating your car.
- Do not nominate more than one car.
- Do not use multiple member accounts to nominate your own car or to nominate multiple cars.
- This is not a picture thread. Post only one (1) good photo of the car you wish to nominate. Do not use unrealistic, overly-processed images.
- You must post a picture with your nomination. This must be a full-sized picture (or at the very least, a pic or thumb that enlarges into a full-sized picture when you click on it).
- Correctly identify the user name of the member who you nominate. This includes capitalization and spacing.
- Correctly identify the year and model/trim of the car you nominate.
- Do not nominate cars that are not in a high quality, finished state.
- And if you are nominated, please DO go out and take an abundance of good quality photos of your ride (multiple angles, interior, engine) and make them publicly accessible (for example via a photo album in your public profile or some sort of hyperlink to your photo album).
OPEN SEASON
Any very high quality, finished, stock or modified 1982-92 Camaro or Firebird.

I'd like to nominate bull-vette and his 31K mile 1989 IROC-Z. It's a 5.7 car and a color combo you don't see very often. Blue/Tan.

I would like to nominate Tibo and his 92 Camaro convertible. This car has more TT (time & talent) in it and it shows on EVERY aspect of his build which he did all himself!

I don't want to blow this or anything, but I can't figure out how to make a photo album in my public profile. In full disclosure, I'm not real good on a computer. Should I add pictures to this thread or can someone tell me the best way to handle pictures for people to see? Thank you again for the consideration!

Wow! That's awesome! Thank you sooo much! I didn't expect anything like this. I am seriously honored to even be thought of with all the nice cars I have seen on this site. This is very cool!

You're welcome!
You dont have to do anything right now. You have a nomination, along with a "second" so you are already in for the voting. A new voting thread will be started in a couple weeks....usually around the 22nd of the month.....and that is where you will post pictures in that thread and tell all about your car. I'm looking forward to that thread to see more pics!

If all I have to do is upload pictures to this thread, I can handle that. If it's more than that, then I'm in trouble. lol Thanks!

@ bull-vette, if you have a Facebook you can upload the photos there (if you haven’t already) and simply [copy and paste] them to threads here. Copy/paste is my preferred method when I’m posting pictures.

Re: August 2019 COM **Nomination Thread**
Remember, you still need a second nomination (I only said the that the car was sharp, which it is), but I didn’t “second” the nomination. I typically reserve that for if I am about to start the **Voting Thread** and there’s a deserving car that hasn’t received a “second”. Sometimes I won’t second the car, like if it’s been nominated in 4 out of the last 5 COTMs; or if it’s not quite COTM-ready in my opinion.
So, if by the end, no one else has, I will likely give you the second, but there is still plenty of opportunity left for anyone else to “second” your car.

The fact that you had one once automatically makes you cooler than me. I have never had one and never had the desire to. So you are not as old or unhip as me. Congratulations! Of course, the bar is pretty low. Lol

Lots of car stuff on FB. You can block people's drama if you have no interest in it. My feed is filled with car pages.

Agreed. I'm 40 and never had one until last year when my Church pretty much told me I had to have one. lots of great car pages and muting the drama is pretty easy.

Agree... The Facebook Marketplace is great for checking out cars.. I found my vette on there... I don’t really care about the social aspects of Facebook..

Re: August 2019 COM **Nomination Thread**
One more vote for FB and other social media for car/hobby purposes, and NOT "communication" per se. FB requires a personal page to have a "business/hobby" page, so I maintain my personal page with about 20 or 30 close friends. -Even then I don't really communicate with them. Heck I have most of their phone numbers. My feed is all cars/mountain bikes/paintball, etc. etc. On my "car" page though, I typically post every week, and have hundreds of followers. I regularly have ongoing conversations with people about thirdgens/irocs via DM or even right on the page. I just feel like it gives me a little more control over MY page than a build thread here on TGO.
....and I was anti-instagram too, but if you post CAR stuff...and follow CAR pages....that's all it is. Cars. No Kardashian drama. No fights or BS. No drama. No claybar residue.

I don’t even know how to leave claybar residue... I think I do it wrong!

Re: August 2019 COM **Nomination Thread**
LOL….that damn claybar residue seems to pop up in every thread I read!
It could be a new drinking game. Every time someone mentions claybar residue you have to take a drink!

I nominate gixxer92 with his 1986 whatyamacallit Z28 IROC 92 heritage LS3. He's going to have to explain what it is because I can't figure it out. All I know is that it is a fine machine.

Re: August 2019 COM **Nomination Thread**
I really do appreciate the positive comments that you (and others) have given me about my Z28 but for the time being I'd like to have my nomination withdrawn. I have the car up on jack stands and am in the middle of welding/rebuilding the 8.8 to swap in. The car is dusty and needs cleaned but I don't have the time to do that, let alone take updated pictures. We are getting the house ready to sell so I have a ton of home projects which is why this 8.8 build is moving at a snail's pace. The car hasn't even been driven in two months.
