Looks like a great car but for some reason I'm not feeling the color comb, the undercoating job under the hood and the drilled holes in the jams.
I agree, that is why I did not consider this one.....but for someone who digs the color combo (which is somewhat rare)
it looks like a nice car - no idea what the underside looks like but I bet its been undercoated which is another reason I'd pass
I hate the little bad judgement things, like the alarm switch/LED/siren and the bumper sticker. Things like that can be headaches to resolve. Interesting that it's rolling on GSCs but looks like the installer used the proper coated weights. Meaning, the tires aren't original, but they're still antiques that arent safe to drive on.
Mine has been undercoated, too. They made a few less in 1991.....mine is 1 of 49 known to be that color combo in 91. Only 555 TA verts were built total in 91

I think yours is a different color, and your top color looks much better!

Mine is the same color....but there are 2 different variences to that green. I painted mine with the darker varience. It was the lighter one, originally.
I like my top color better, too, but I like their interior color better. The interior colors look to be a little different from 91-92

Here's a better pic of my color...
You have a super nice T/A, that green is a fooler in different light.
On a overcast day it looks completely different than on a bright sunny day.

Thanks man!
Yeah, there are times when the car even looks black. The lighter varience just looked too pale/teal for my liking....so I went with the darker shade and I like it a LOT more
I like the green, I'm just not sure about the way it looks under different light. My project bird is (45) Medium Green Metallic. Same thing, in some light it looks black. When bright light hits it the metallic brightens up and it's more of an emerald green. I've been debating since I got the car if I should go strictly by the original paint code or go with a similar green that doesn't wash out quite so easily. Fortunately, at the rate I'm going, I've got about five years left to make up my mind.
With (37) Dark Teal, (45) Medium Green Metallic (or Polo Green), and (18) Dark Green-Gray, there were plenty of greens to choose from in 91-92.
Even the paint chip illustrates the color change. Black around the edges, bright where the flash is lighting up the flake.

I believe (45U) was called Dark Green Metallic in 91 & 92, for Pontiac that color was on 175 T/A & GTA verts in 1992 and 145 FB & T/A verts in 1991,
so it's not really very common.....that is IF we can trust Robert Casey's book, which I think we can

It's probably just a wording issue and you probably know this, but for those who are reading it should be noted there was no GTA convertibles in 1992, 1991 or really any official ones from Pontiac. There are pre-1991 GTA convertibles out there converted by ASC as aftermarket, but when Pontiac made the convertible official in 1991 and 1992 (though used ASC to do the conversion) the GTA was not available as a convertible during the order process.
Edit: I think you looked in the wrong section? I just checked my book. It shows 311 Firebird and Trans Am convertibles for 1992 and 159 Firebird and Trans Am convertibles for 1991. Your 1992 figures is for the coupe?

Robert is the one that told me that mine was 1 of 49 known 91 TA's this color combo. He said of the 184 green verts, 87 were dark green trans am verts. 25 of the 184 total were still unaccounted for....so of those 25 we don't know interior color, transmission, etc. 49 of those are for sure dark green, tan top, camel interior, and automatics.

Thanks JT, and NO, I did not know.....but I do now
Guess I need to do some more reading....

Very cool.....I found a "like brand new" 1992 Formula 5.7 ttop, with 18,000 miles that his book is showing as a 1 of 41 made (as optioned)
it's is fully documented with original window sticker, build sheet and sales invoice and the original owner is willing to sell it to me.....been in climate controlled garage its entire life
but has not been run in over 15 years......I may buy it

That'd be awesome! Hopefully not running for 15 years will bring no surprises, but that may be a leverage point in buying it, too!

JT - yes sir, my bad, was looking at the wrong page, you are correct, I was looking at the coupes page

No problem. I checked my book because I wondered if his book listed the GTA with the Trans Am convertibles as that would be an error or give false suggestion. The book is a good resource but we have found a few errors here and there and it helps to know. And I've made that vary same mistake of looking at the wrong coupe or convertible section.
I've never been a fan of green but seeing it on the 1991/1992 Trans Am over the years has changed my mind. It looks great.

Yes, the header title on the 1992 convertibles page is somewhat confusing
Here is the 2 variences of the green. The darker shade that I painted my car is on the left. They're very close, but the darker varience doesnt have the teal looking flop in the light.....it just stays the emerald green.

Depends where you look. In Camaro materials it's Polo green, in Firebird I've seen Med Dark Green and Dark Green Metallic, etc. It's the one that's not 1) teal 2) not green/gray.

My convertible cranks, but after X years in storage the alarm freaked the F out when I reconnected the battery. It wouldn't recognize the key fob at all. After eliminating the alarm system with extreme prejudice I don't hear the fuel pump prime. I don't figure the alarm was wired to cut the fuel, but honestly I haven't felt like messing with it. I expect I'll have to put a fuel pump in it, and I'm not too hot on the idea of having another car torn apart right now, or working on a shop floor covered in 15 years worth of dust that's collected under the car. Just as well, RS values are still in the gutter.
I got my info from JT back when I bought my car. There are a couple threads on here that go with that info also. The book may be more accurate or not. Who knows? It's only a 12 car difference.

The 128 does not factor which 305. The Trans Am could have had the L03 or LB9.
My figures came from Compnine. I don't know for sure where Robert got his figures but I seem to recall it was a combination with Compnine included. Compnine shows 115 to his 116 figure for 45U, Camel Leather, WS4, Auto - 1992 T/A Convertibles.
Keep in mind the figures may never be 100%. I have two letters from Pontiac where their own figures don't agree with each other on the 1992 Convertible options. If Pontiac couldn't keep the information accurate, I doubt it will ever be.
Export. There was about 47 - 1992 T/A Convertibles exported with the TBI L03.
I guess for us here, me saying the Trans Am could be had with the L03 or LB9 wasn't applicable but I mentioned it because it was a factor in the figures aforementioned. But then again, we do have members across the waters.

Makes sense. I just generally don't consider other countries being relevant to anything. Just kidding foreigners.
