Hey Jeremy, good to see you on the boards. I hadn't heard from you after I emailed you back, so I was wonderin' what was up.
Your car is real sweet!
Basically, our hood was built by a guy here in Portland, Oregon in three different styles: with the louver/blister indent, with built-in blisters, and smooth. He no longer works at the place where I used to talk to him, and I have been unable to contact him. The story I got from him was that he tried to market them a little, and sold about 5 or 6 out of state, mainly in Florida. He also had one on his car, and I know of one other car locally. He also had a custom nose, carbon fiber door skins, a wing similar to the '91/'92 Z but without the center bars, and a 4" 3 piece rear spoiler.
I notice that you didn't open up the vent on the sides of your hood?
Anyway, enjoy your car, knowing that you have pretty much a one off hood.
And if you ever decide to sell your car, let me know, I would definately like to purchase your hood (or maybe the whole car) off of you so I can have matching thirdgens.

I like your car can I have it?
I really love the pic of the front with the hood.DId you get the car repainted recently. The carpet could use a little cleaning.
I really love the pic of the front with the hood.DId you get the car repainted recently. The carpet could use a little cleaning.as far as i know the car has never been repainted except for the hood when it was put on.(hood was on the car when i bought it) still looks like the original paint to me on the car. some of the paint is flaking off the spoiler, but the rest of it looks really good for a car with 81,000 miles on it. i am the second owner of the car and when i bought it in 1996 it had 44,000 miles on it. i know the interior is dirty but its not that bad. just needs a good shampooing. the leather seating need a good cleaning, mainly the driver seat, the others is just fine. i need to find something really good to use to clean them. i will be updating pics on my page as soon as the snow melts here in indiana. still looking for iroc's like mine. thanks to all.
just posted new photos on my page. click the link to check them out and tell me what you guys think. would anybody have a set of "factory" rear louvers they want to sell. has to be a set for the high mount stop light in the rear spoiler. my car has the code for it but the guy who owned it before me took them off. thanks to all.

Here's my IROC.....Big wing on the back is gone now replaced it with '91-'92 Z-28 aero wing. Damn I'd love to have one of those hoods

Ya, I read that. Now we just gotta see if we can get one of the 'glass companies to make one similar to it. The Daytona hoods are too "square" on the sides of the scoop and i'm not too crazy about those oval vents on the sides of it, but yours looks perfect. Do you mind if I copied a pic of your hood off your page and started a poll? Maybe if there's enough response we could forward it to ASCD or something

I considered reproducing my hood myself, since I'm sure I could sell them, but have held off for two reasons:
1) The guy who made my hood protected his trade rights on the design, and my attorney told me that I would be an idiot to make them without purchasing the rights to do so. This was reason enough to stop me cold, and is one of the main reasons I'm trying hard to locate him. I want to purchase his rights to the hood. He may still have his old stock and the original molds too, which would be real helpful. My attorney says that original design must be changed by 20% overall from the original in order not to be a copy, and this would be difficult since he made 3 designs. At this point, if another company tried to copy the hood, I'd warn them off, since I am in the process of trying to aquire the rights.
2) I like having a unique hood. It is nice to be different. Still wouldn't stop me from manufacturing them though.

i dont care if you copy the pic of my hood to do a poll, just make sure i know about this so i can vote on them, but i agree with blue 502, i wouldnt want to get sued for stealing someone elses design. is very nice to have a one of a kind hood as i get compliments all the time. thanks for the compliments to everybody that has replied and read this post.

Hey is that a second gen camaro i see in the back ground? *** that is a beauty if it is. Hope to have me a flying 2nd gen
why yes it is a second gen. its a 79 berlinetta. car is in really good shape with minor rust. the motor is all chromed out and use to run good but now it runs on six cylinders. i think wiped clean two intake lobes on the cam shaft. checked everything i could and thats the only thing it can be. i was waiting for someone to say something about it. it is for sale but i would recommend changing the motor. right now it has a 307 in it and the car has all kinds of new stuff in it and on it(suspension, brakes, tires, and a bunch more of stuff, too much to list. thanks for noticing.

how much u letting the it go for? man i would love to have one, looking for a Z28 but would be happy with any 2nd gen in great condition
i am asking 1500.00 for it. it has over 5,000 in it. i still have all the receipts. i have had the car for 2 years and did all the work over the new year weekend when we went from 1999 to 2000. i can send pics if you like but wont be able to do that till tomorrow. little dark right now.

UGH! I don't want to start a war on traderights! I just want a cool hood for my car. IROCS are supposed to have louvers in the hood and the Daytona/Turbo hood looks wayyyy too cheesy. Anybody else have an alternative idea?
i like your thinking. irocs should have louvers on the hood. thats what makes them look good. i do know there are hoods out there that you can insert your hood louvers on them. most do look really good but i cant think of any manufactures right now that has them. other people on the board might be able to help you. i will look around to see if i can find some for ya. later
