Had the chance over the weekend to install a pair of functional iroc hood louvers from ebay. I was hesitant about them at first but being they were half the price of the the tracspecs go for I gave them a shot. Overall no complaints look good ,fit good, good build quality and very reasonably priced!! They come with templates to cut out the holes and rivets, and washers. (Louvers are not fully riveted on in the pics below, they were being test fitted at time of picture for reference)

yes thats what they're going for shipped, not bad as they do the same function and look the same.
They definitely do let out ALOT of Heat from the engine compartment.
yes it can affect it but my car sits in garage and only taken out on sunny days and is hand washed. I would see it being in an issue if the car was daily driven or parked out in the elements 😯
Everyone always asks about the rain. Do you guys not wash your engine? ....if anything it's an engine detailers nightmare, but a little water won't hurt anything. Now if you DO wash your engine with a direct flow of water from hose or pressure washer, I think covering up some electronics can be a good idea, but just getting wet from rain or overspray? Nah, engines are fine. Not gonna hurt anything.

Seriously? Who washes the engine bay of a garage queen, show car?
I only washed mine after the initial wash when I got the car, and any time I drove it and got caught in heavy rains, which wasn't often on a 1000 point judged car. After that, it was dusted and detailed to the hilt.
Anyone else buy these yet? I'm seriously considering it. I have a BMR strut brace, wondering if that will interfere at all..
Edit:
So I bought these and the louvers I got are aluminum... The add says they are steel.

mine are black painted steel. No issues with them so far. Try returning them if you can
Where's the link/s? Id buy one for a just in case (i get bored with the blisters).
Nevermind, i found em. https://www.ebay.com/itm/19582650360...Cclp%3A2047675
The hawks are aluminum, but these "copies" are steel. Wouldn't aluminum be better, for heat dissipation?
m300, maybe you got a "steel" of a deal.

Did you notice a drop in temps on the gauge?
Does the fan come on less often?
Do they sit flat on the hood? In the first pic they look like the front doesn't follow the curvature of the hood.
841LE yeah I think I did lol... was definitely surprised that they were aluminum. I looked and they are no longer available from the store on eBay I got them from..
Here are mine. I was a bit hesitant about cutting the hood, but i was tired of just looking at the box. So i got it done, installation is pretty straight forward. Longest part was sanding the edges, cause i didnt want any sharp edges. Out of curiosity i put a magnet to them and whatta ya know they're ALUMINUM!
I painted the edges satin black so they blend in as they're visible from the topsdie.
Watch where you cut.
Done

Unless you live in a desert somewhere even garage stored cars end up getting getting caught in the rain - at least that has been my experience. I would think water would end up puddling up on the intake manifold and other places it can't drain, or possibly getting into one or more of the many electronic gadgets these cars have under the hood shorting something out. Then you could find yourself stranded with a car that won't start or run right until all that water evaporates.
I suppose in heavy rain fall it could puddle up some. Here in so. Cal we don't see much of that. I have driven it in the rain though, but it was light to moderate. I think most of what is able to fall thru just evaporated. I will however avoid dousing that area when I wash it.
On a side note, temps are about 25 degrees lower now, according to the gauge!
Ask any Jaguar F-type owner (or their mechanic) open louvers create a nightmare against engines. At 30k miles, our intakes/valve covers/injectors were rotting.
