Rice question

Does it actually stand for something or is it just a insult?

en befo da loc!

basically, its a car that "looks" fast, but isnt... the term started with "Rice Burner" and just kinda went from there... now it seems anything someone doesnt like is automatically rice.

You'll get varying answers. To me rice can be done to any car. Basically when the person is more worried about looks than speed and think their car is fast. Or by just putting rediculous stuff on a car like a wing that is as tall as the roof or a 5" exhaust tip. And most of the time this stuff can actually slow a car down. Ohh, forgot all the stickers they have. I've seen a new fad by getting a pad that goes over the shoulder that is connected to the seat belt, guess that gives 5 extra HP.

like Roshambo said rice came from "rice bunner" but i thought rice buner related to asian's using "rice" to power thier cars instead of good old "american" GASOLINE.

speaking of stupid thinks people do to thier cars that they think looks cool. STORY COMING: I use to work at menards and have to go out and get the carts out of the parking lot. Well i hated my job so I would kill as much time as possible outside away from the craby customers (P.S. the customer is never right, if they were right they wouldn't need you in the first place). So any way I would check out all the cars in the parking lot. When one day i see the white car with some "custom" white GFX. As I get closer to it I'm thinking they look funny. Then I realise what the GFX really are. The owner had bought some decrative wood trim that you would use inside of your house, it had a notch pattern running up and down, Painted it white and attached it to is car. Thats what I call cheap.

its just a saying to refre to a jap. car like honda, toys, and mitsubishi.
it frist started as rice burner but now that everyone one is trying to make their saturns and volts, and so fourth look like a honda it truned into rice or *****.

p.s. the little seat belts pads are not rice unless it say **** like honda and such things i plan on having them with 5-point belts when i get them in...

i have respect for some of the japs cars like the new RX-7's and some hondas but not for the saturns and the volkswagens

I've got the same kind of tach, it was a present, and I was afraid someone might think it was rice.

To me TT Supra, RX-7 TT aren't rice from the factory only if the owner does dumb stuff to it, however there's not too many people that get those cars that rice em out.

Quick Question: Is an exaust that with a high pitch squeal that sounds like a dying kitten (if you've seen the *** kills kitten pic in here...) sappose to sound good. Is that what "ricers" think sounds like POWER??

You know what i hate more than ricers, Ricers that have know idea what they are doing. I see them all the time, they have custom 18' wheels in the back and stock 14' wheels with no hub caps in the front. Then they have new bumper and GFX but ofcourse they are still primer gray. Or better yet they get a wacked out new bumper and nothing else to go with it, doesn't match anything else on their car. Or a huge sheet meteal spolier that they made in shop class.

My understanding of rice has always been advertising what you dont have, such as speed. Such as putting a sticker on your car that says you have a motor in it that it really doesnt have. Your car doesnt have to be japenese, people are now doing neons, saturns, you name it, the fad is really popular now. Although I think most of these imports are posers such as ricers, there are a few real deal imports are there like the supra, and rx7s things of that sort.
