giving up the old t/a
giving up the old t/a
hey guys,
well my fiancee's car is being repoed in a few weeks, she never told me she was behind on her payments, so since we both work at seperate ends of the earth we both need vehicles. so she may be getting my trans am, and I most likely will end up with a crotch rocket, I'll keep you guys posted, happy motoring

Sounds like a real good girlfriend.
Maybe she should have mentioned her situation 6 months ago when it would have mattered.

tell me about it, if she had told me when I had some cash back then we could have bought a econo box for her to drive or something, but now I'm stuck, she only has abot $400 to use to buy, register, and insure a car, so it looks like good-bye t/a unless I can think of something, atleast I'll keep her in the family, and I'll get it back one day, in a few years
Why not make her use the damned crotch rocket? I don't care who my Fiancee' or Girlfreind was. If it was there fault for loosing there own car, I sure as hell wouldn't let um drive mine. Thats just plain irrisponsible to not tell you she was behind on payments, and then expect you to give-up your car so she can drive somthing. If you give her your car to drive, then what incentive does she then have to go and get a car of her own??? Thats a load of shyt man, keep your car and drive it yourself.... you paid for it didn't you? And let her ride something else. I'm sure you can find her a nasty *** beater for around $400 or less.

How far away fromt Ft. Myers are you? I'll help you get something for her. Theres a Blue 6cyl RS for $300 bux down the street. Doesn't look pretty, needs a timing belt... and has the wrong steering column in it (Still works fine, just has some extra wires hanging out of it) I can get a 3rd gen for NOTHIN if she wants. $400 bux is plenty.

You may want to think long and hard about marrying someone that has such a problem managing their money. Remember after you say I Do whats yours is now hers. Good Luck, you'll need it.
oh ya, the car was a kia she got in 99, they have been raping her out of $280 a month plus another $200 for insurance, and the thing keeps breaking down and its not warrentied anymore. so almost 500 bucks a month go just for the car, so I'm glad to get rid of it

Not that its any of my business but since you brought it up I'll chime in. Your girl should have sold/traded the car in if it was giving her trouble. She could have gotten something cheaper. (although I'm not sure whats cheaper than a Kia) Anything is better than having a car repossesed. Almost nothing on a credit report looks as bad as a repossession. How ****ty of a driver is she that she pays 200 a month for insurance. Christ my insurance on my 96 formula was 100 month when I was single, under thirty and I had a chargeable accident. Now that I'm married my formula and our minivan total 165 a month. This girl's got some issues which will someday become your issues. Consider this another warning.
Throw your s*** in thr T/A and burn rubber as far as you can...
This is just the start, don't be her human wallet. (I may be just a tab bitter since I'm goin' thru a divorce.) Run while you can.
Good luck !

we tried to get rid of it, but she bought it brand new and no one in her family could co-sign, so a 7k car turned into a 13k car, we tried to sell it for 2 years not one buyer that would pass the credit check to take over the financing, and no dealership would give us more then 3k for it, so we would be upside down for atleast 5k. we have lived together for over 2 years, she recently lost her job and found a new one, so I guess she couldn't compensate, I'm not going to leave her because of this. oh ya she is only 21 and has 1 ticket, but no prior insurance which is why its $200 a month. as far as looking bad on a credit report thats ok with me, I'll be buying a house right before we get married in a few years. plus we know some credit erasers.

sounds to me like a good excuse to buy a bike. The key here is that when you guys go somewhere together, you drive the car.
It is still yours, she will just be using it on short trips and to work.
Just make sure she can handle the car, and you will be alright.
Besides, you are working on some good brownie points with her.
It shows that you trust her.
If you cant trust the person you are going to marry, then you just shouldnt say "I do".
Good luck man!!

There is no such thing as a credit eraser. Time to start thinking about credit. You will have a hard time buying a house with a repossession on your credit. Not to mention the car will be sold and whatever amount is left on the balance of the note the bank will sue her for. Most mortgage companies will make you pay off any outstanding debts or judgments before they will give you a mortgage. Food for thought. Lata.
I just reread your post. You have lived together for two years and did not know she hadn't made a car payment???? The bank will send out about a bizillion notices and call the house fifteen times a day. WTF. You guys are obviously pretty close. Yeah get hitched. Call me when you need a good divorce attorney.

Talk about a rock and a hard spot. I'm sure that it must really be a PITA paying $500 a month for a POS but what about the long run? This is going to effect her for the rest of her life and if you get married you to. Just because she let's them repo the car doesn't mean that it won't cost her because she'll end up paying for it. Usually they auction it off and whatever is left on the balance she's going to have to pay for or they can start taking her paycheck unless she files for bankruptcy. One thing just leads to another and there is no easy way out but letting it go back would be the last thing I'd do. IMO
I agree with jobryan26. Bite the bullet and catch up on the payments. Late payments are far better than a repo when it comes time to purchase a home. If you are approved for a home loan after a repo you will pay through the nose on interest. In the long run, it's cheaper to keep her (the car, that is). Credit counseling is probably a good idea before you guys make it official. Oh yeah, make sure her credit is cleaned up before you make it a joint situation. Man, that sounds like a lecture. You're probably tired of hearing about it by now.
we will not be married when I buy the home, its going to be in my name, everything is now too, as far as the payments its to late we would need about a grand to catch up on the insurance and payments, the car is goin either way. and she is already in credit counsiling, its not helping at all her payments keep going up instead of down, damned discover don't ever **** them off. I've asked her to declare bankruptcy, we can live off of my credit for 7 years no problem, but we need to get rid of that car, oh ya the beakes just went again, this is the 5th or 6th time since she got it in 99. stupid kia.

It may be too late but if you are having problems with creditors sometimes if you call them they will try and work something out. A bank NEVER wants to repo a car. They will not get back their investment. It is a last ditch effort by the bank to get what they can. If you have a legitimate temporary financial problem they will usually work something out. Cut up your girlfriend's cards now!!!!!
she has no cards now, even before we were together they were sent to a collections agency, I work for american express so I know how these things go, her only option is bankruptcy or to leave the country for 7 years.
