Foglights are working, pics inside

Inside I have a GTA console piece that has all the factory switches so the lights look completely stock. I am really happy with the way they turned out.

Adam,
didn't you have the round fogs in before this? If so, I like these new ones a lot. If not, they still look good.

Underhood, open element K&N right now. The hood is cutout in the back though. This pic was a long time ago, before headers and polishing the runners.

Old foglights. I like the new ones a lot more

So let me get this straight... what about your car is a Formula?

No offense but you've pretty much removed every piece of your car that gave it the distinction of being a Firebird Formula. Gone are the formula only wheels, gone is the formula only hood, and now you've added foglights to the only car that year that couldn't be ordered with them. In a round about way you've changed the car into something its not, killed its uniqueness. Maybe thats what you intended to do, maybe you didnt think of it that way, maybe you're just makign it into what you want... Ultimately there's nothing wrong with that, but it lost somethign with the changes that were made.

Formula only wheels? They were originally trans am wheels. Also not all formulas came with them, as some came with crosslace wheels (and t-tops).

Formula only hood? Once again, originally a Trans Am hood. Not entirely that unique.

Yes I have added the foglights and I think they look very good.

The car is still a formula. It has the WS6 suspension, 3.23 rear end gears, yadda yadda. If you look up the vin number it will tell you its a formula. The RPO codes will also tell you the same if you cant read the door.

I got rid of the exhaust manifolds for headers, got a 52 mm throttlebody, put a shift kit in my tranny, etc. Is my motor no longer a L98? Of course its a L98. Just like how my car is still a formula. A little different, and improved, but still a formula.

And not that you care, but I intend on putting 91-92 Trans Am taillights on the car as well.

Adam

What in the world?! Who cares if his car came as a Formula or a GTA or a Z28 from the factory...he's turning it into something that he likes personally. I dont think I am the only one that sees his vehicle as a means for self expression. My car being under fire from your comments as well, what is so permanent about a hood and wheels and foglights? Nothing.

killed its uniqueness
and if he someday wants to convert it back to stock, it will take all of a few hours of easy labor.

Next time the originality police come thru town, be ready Arctic.

My point is what makes a formula a formula? Its pretty obvious, the hood, the wheels, the spoiler, WS6, and the lack of gfx and other unnecessary options that only weigh the car down. The Formula package is about performance over appearance, about function over form. Its power without the price tag of a Trans Am.

Honestly I don't care if you want to paint your car tittie pink and paint lesbians in the heat of passion on the hood, its your car and your business. But I have an opinion and I'm not afraid to share it. More so in this case since you're submitting your car for approval by posting this thread. From my point of view the car is just another frankenstein at this point. It catches the eye, but then again so would the tittie pink slutmobile. Its just a matter of loyalty to what makes the cars what they are.

As for your arguments of whether the wheels, and hood, are Formula specific, for 91-92 they are. Some Formula's had crosslace wheels in 92, and maybe 91, but then again we're talking about a hardtop not a ttop. And if you really want to get specific, the VIN doesn't differentiate between a Formula and a base model firebird, it never has. Only the rpo codes indicate this.

Get this straight, I'm not saying what you did was wrong or that you're a *** for doing it or that its completely gay, I'm just saying that in a very obvious way the car goes against the grain of what the formula package was intended. If you want to argue about it, then yes, you're an idiot, since I went to great effort not to offend you in telling you how I feel about your changes to the car, and you still seem to be taking offense. Get used to criticism, I'm sure I won't be the last person that doesnt totally agree with you, and most people won't sugar coat it as I have.

Drew I didnt take a word you said to me offensively as you seem to think I am. People have made comments about my car that make you look like Mother Theresa. I know better than that. I am a veteran of thirdgen and I also frequent 3GO all the time.

When I got the car, I did not buy it because of the reasons you stated. I bought it because I liked it. And I like what I have done to it. I couldnt really give a rats *** if it was fully intended to be a stripped down race car. I didnt buy it to do that with, I bought it to have fun with.

My name is not Stuart, and I like modding my car

I guess overall what I am trying to say is that it will always be a formula no matter what you think it is.

Everybody has their own opinions and thats fine, I got the impression that you, and more accurately JMatlock88 took my comments as a flame, and felt the need to defend myself. If it was uncalled for I'm sorry.

Yes the car will always be a formula regardless, same as my V6 Firebird will still be a base model firebird when it has a TPI 350 and looks like something completely different.

Huge improvement! The only thing I didn't like about your car was the old fogs. They don't fit the look of a thirdgen. The new ones look great!

Jim does have a point, they look better now then they did before... My only reason for not liking them my opinion that Formula's shouldn't have foglights.

Look at it this way...somebody who doesnt know the essance of owning a thirdgen could have easily ended up owning that beatutiful car of his, and REALLY did something to it to make it look retarted. I think all the mods and changes he has done, and have planned(91-92 TA lights) are tasteful "addittions" to his Formula. Just think about it....it could have been [R-word]-ed out, or some dumbs**t could have added an extra axle like in the other post To each his own, but personally....that car is beatuiful...wether it "goes against the grain" of being a Formula by some people's standards or not, I think the additions are tasteful and appropriate. Nice ride man!!:hail:

Peace.

Very nice car ADAM. It is your car and only you have to be happy with it. I am. Fogs look great and they are functional and add to the safety of your driving. I respect the purists too. If they are happy with a factory correct puny V6 then more power to them.

Looks alot better Adam than the round ones. Gonna get in on the Ronal's? Those would look sooo sweet on your car with white inserts on the wheels. Not saying it isn't sharp now.

How's the light output for the new lights? Do they spray a lot of light around, or are they more of a highway driving light?

looks good. R u gonna do the H4 headlight Conversions?

they help a lot by putting out more light. I've got the Diamond-cut backed headlight conversions on mine now....trying to sell the regular conversions. they are the ones in this pic.
