What should be my daily driver?

Here is my delema, love the SC but I cant afford to drive it to school or work! Here are the options...

1985 S10- 305 from my SC. Lowered, pro street look. Gets towing and part run duty.

1980 Malibu- Sleeper, like something that the mob would drive. Someting decent for a motor, free reving. Probably a primer paint job, with noce chrome. Could be a Cutlass too.

1978 Nova- Pro touring. 350, nice stance, lowered, handle nicely. Decent and straight paint job.

1988 Civic. Threw this in because it is the most pratical. Mave a motor swap. Needs a bit of grunt to not be totally depressing.

Any other suggestions? I have a lot of faith in your opinions, guys...

I'd say go for the S10, I like Novas, but unless they're built they're useless. And a 350 isn't going to be cheaper than what you got now.

Ok it looks like you are looking for a commuter car. Honestly, I don't see a muscle car or a SUV as being an ideal commuter car.

Who in their right mind would want any honda civic, but that's an entirely different discussion.

Ok, so we narrow it down to a GM commuter car. You're gonna have to commute in rain and snow and all that good stuff, so maybe we should consider FWD. But we need something with some get up and go. We want something reliable, but not too expensive. So let's look into very late 80's to early-mid 90's.

But I'm sure we want something that looks sporty. So, Ive narrowed it down to these suggestions:

Corsica/Beretta
Grand Am
Lumina
Grand Prix
Cavalier/Sunbird/Sunfire
Monte Carlo (FWD version)
Saturn SL2 or SC2 (twin cam)
Olds Cutlass Supreme (there's a fwd convertable )

Unfortunately none of these cars came with v6 and 5 speed. Could only get 5 speed with 4 bangers.

Don't know how much you like/dislike these suggestions, but if I couldn't afford my 2000 GA, these are the cars I would look into.

you can get both the cutlass and the lumina with a 3.4 and a 5 spd, good luck finding one but they are out there.

Thanks Mike,

Insurance is best for 4 door domestics, so that is what I would probably end up getting. The S10 woulnd be hard to insure either. I am not to big on the Cavaliers of the 80s as well as the Berettas, because they are pretty *****, especailly the Z24s.

I think that your are right about the fuelie 4s and 6s/ manual combos. With a few bolt ons and fabrications, they would make decent little engines. Stuff I mean: cold air pipe, fuel injectors, ignition,...

-

Looks like the consensis is going towards the S10 at the moment.

Looks like the V8 S10 is the winner, but I think that I will check on prices of the Nova and if it is decent than I will do it up after the Camaro. If it isnt I will start looking for another S10.
