Black junk on tb and plenum

What exactly is this black junk inside my plenum and TB. I took my plenum off to grind the walls behind the TB, and their was this black junk in it. It was also on the butterflys of the TB.

What is the best way to get this junk off. Carb cleaner should do it . Will it be safe with the tps on the TB.

Im not trying to be dumb. I didnt know if this is like carbon buildup on valves.

I am replacing my afpr, so I want to get the plenum and TB clean before I put it back on.

Is there anyway to keep this from happening again?

That black stuff should be carbon deposits.I think you need some stuff thats safe for fuel injectoin instead of using carb cleaner. I think I've heard about some lining on the inside of the plenum that gets sripped off when you use certian chemicals. So I'd go the safe route and find some FI safe cleaner.

You can clean it off with carb cleaner, TPI and MPFI parts aren't coated. But there's no point since the EGR pumps that crap thru the plenum by design.

I figured It would come back. I realy want to clean the TB though.

What is the best way to clean the outside of the TB and Plenum. I dont want to polish it, but it is dirty. Would aluminum wheel cleaner work for the plenum?
