Hood Pins and locks
Hood Pins and locks
Hi guys
Well i'm gonna install sum low profile lockable hood pins on my bayby. My two main reasons being that the hood is about a 1/4 inch higher on the passenger side. Remember that i got sideswiped by a semi truck sum 3 years ago. and the adding security on the hood always being locked against theft.
I'd like the see sum pics of thirdgen with hodd pins, and where you guy located the machanisme inside. where you attached it.
thx guys

I like the placement of my pins. The holes are already in the frame too. Check out my next post for the placement.

I want to replace my regular hood pins with a set of those flush mounted "locking" types; the kind that uses the barrel type of key to open. I wonder how bad that'll suck.

Kevs86TA, it's not hard to put in pins. It's actually quite simple.
I uesd a dremmel on the hood, because it is fiberglass and didn't have a drill.
1) make sure the hood is lined up. (I didn't do this and it's a little off now)
2) take out the hood bumper that is screwed in where I placed my pins.
3) put the pins into the hole
4) put chalk or some other type of marking device on the top of the pin and close the hood until it touches the chalk.
5) there should now be a little white dot on the hood from the chalk, drill your hole there. Do this step as many times as needed. I had to do it twice.
6) pop rivet the scratch plates to the outside of the hood. I saw a guy that used screws, it wasn't holding all that well.
7) you're done
