Viper colored Trans Am
Viper colored Trans Am
Hey everyone,
I was looking throught the readers rides section, trying to pic out a color for my 86 Trans Am project, and i think i've got it narrowed down to Viper blue(like on bluegrassz's 92 z-28) or Viper silver (like on Joe Montez's camaro). Both are awsome cars.
Does anyone have any pics of trans am's in these colors? And is this paint available from a dodge dealer or do i have to go to a paint shop? And what kinda prices should i excpect for just the paint.(not the painting).
Hey thanks a lot guys. I'll be posting pics of both my Trans ams Pretty soon.

I'd say your going to be paying a lot more for the name. If you had gone Viper Red, you would be paying even more I think.

The viper blue I put on my car from PPG was as cheep as black?
I priced it and when they said it was as cheep as black, I though go for it. Then I got the Idea of the stripes. I love the color, and it is alot different than the Iroc blue.
thanks for the complement. My car was red. I used 3 quarts of base coat to do the inside jams and outside. The only place I did not spray is the strut towers. The radiator support, bottom of hood, and inside of the fenders, I painted blue.
I planed on working on my motor and didnt want to scratch the paint in the engine bay. so this spring when i get done with my motor I will finish the paint.
Oh yeah. the pics in readers ride dont do the color justic. I photoshoped the pics and cleaned them up here is a couple.

I paid $3 per quart more for Viper Red than for GM Bright Red. Just because it came on a Viper doesn't make it more expensive.

I just went to my local paint shop. You dont have to get it from the factory. PPG, Dupont, sherwin-williams, any brand should be able to mix it for you. I think it was 95 or 96 viper blue was the year of the color. I dont know how many years they used it that color.
