got an estimate today.....
went to the chevy dealership and got some brakework done today and got an estimate on my paint job. There going to have to replace the front ground effect.....redo the door hinges bolts and bushings.....replace the all the hood stuff (due to flying up at 30mph)....change the color from flame red to the original med maui blue metallic which includes door jambs and engine compartment and hatchback compartment. and one dent in my fender. They use PPG paint and the totals gonna rum me almost 4500. Sound about right?? Im gonna get the actual hood seperate (ram air hood) so i guess im looking at around 5000 altogether. Not getting it done too soon cause i want the new tranny and all the bugs out first throughout the car. But they do great work and he told me he would probably have my car for about 4 to 6weeks which is telling me that there gonna take there time and do it right. Just give me some opinions on what yall think on price etc...and maybe some camaros with that color (ive only seen one) THANKS

OUCH! I'd shop around your local paint and body shops and compare. Also, ask others for reccomendations on reputable shops and inspect their past work. Don't be afraid to ask, if they're good, thay will want to show off their work. just because it's a dealer, dosen't mean that you're you're getting the best work. Our cars were painted by robots at the factory, just keep that in mind.

Sounds real close to me. A typical color change would be $3500.00 and would include a dent or two.
A new ground effect, two new hood hinges, and two new support rods .... treating this as a separate job.... would be $622.69.
Add to this painting the engine compartment and rebuilding and/or replacing your door hinges sounds right on the money or at least in the ball park even though it would seem they're about two weeks too slow.

i figured that was a good price because the people i went to before wanted 3500 just to paint it. Not including the door jambs or engine compartment. They told me that they would have to replace my door hinges whereas GM told methat could most likely get m some new pins and bushings and be done with it. And when the service manager knocked off $250 which is the price of the front ground effect i figured he was tryingto work with me.
