New Mustang Mach 1

Anyone else think this car looks SWEET? I love it. Not a big Ford fan, but this car looks great. Why couldn't GM do this with the F-bodies instead of killing them? I'd love to see a 5th gen Camaro with 69 RS-style headlight covers and hockey stick stripes w/ 396 and 427 badging b/c they have 396 or 427 LS1's in them.

I think the car looks like crap personally, I don't like the new looks of Mustangs, and I'm a fan of Mustangs. I would love a new 5th Gen Camaro looking like a retro of the 1st Gens, I would most likely be done with college by then to have one.

I like the looks of the new Mustangs, it's the Fox bodies that look like complete garbage to me. My friend has a 92 GT, thank *** my car destroys it on the street, I love beating that ugly bastard.

Some don't look bad, depending on appearance mods, but I'm a fan of the coupe one's. I had a 4banger one, with wing and cowl induct hood, looked awesome, it was kind of before this whole rice era, but I knew it was a slow turd.
Of course I love the 60's and very early 70s Stangs too.

I picked up a project mustang a few weeks ago for $1500. Its a 85 fox body mustang svo. Its a 4 cyl turbo and it hauls *****. It would smoke my Camaro and its still in stock form (2.3ltr t3 turbo @ 10 psi). I'm not a mustang fan in general but I couldn't pass the deal up. I think of all the styles, the fox body is the ugliest, but the 93 GT style looks good when done right. I'm gonna be upgrading my 85 to the 93 GT gound f/x then im gonna chop up the front bumper cover to fit a front mount intercooler. . will be a great SCCA track car. Weighs 2900 pounds, 48/52 weight distribution, 4 wheel 11" 4 piston caliper discs, koni's from the factory and 15:1 power assisted rack pinion steering. Pretty cool!!! I should be able to take it up to 260 rwhp withouth even changing the turbo.

The Mustang IIs from the mid to late 70s were the worst.
But that SVO, don't they run 13s stock, definately a good deal there, how does it run?

It runs very good with the exception of the MAS ... sometimes it'll crap out but when I first drove it home I took it up to 135 on the highway ... really pulls at higher speeds but slow off the line (as expected). My plans so far will be an upgraded 76mm tunable MAS (via laptop), better cam, downpipe, pulley's, new boost controller, and front mount intercooler ... should get me around 260 rwhp @ 17 psi on the t3 turbo.

Later i plan to upgrade to a t3/t4 hybrid and 86 ECU with the EEC IV tuner ... should be able to tune it to 360 rwhp @ 25 psi and a 7k rpm redline

(all these figgures are what other people on the internet are getting).

Give me the old BOSS 429 anyday I think the color is what makes the car look like sh.. I love some of the old Mustangs. I will pass on the new ones. If GM had worked the Carmaro and Firebird as hard as ford did the Mustang we would still have one.I see fords running new TV ads now about the Mustangs history.

oh yeah, and one thing i will say good about that car, its almost completely stock, the ram air is functional, has flowmaster cat-back, and 4.10's but the car is PERFECT, has under 20,000 miles on it, its a '98 GT There is NO dirt on, not under the hood, in the wheel wells or anywhere, its show room clean, and runs like it too.

I like Mustangs. Two of my friends drive fox-body GT's. Remember if it wasn't for the Mustang we might never have had a Camaro. After all, the Camaro was built originally to compete against Mustang. I think this thread is relative. We're just checking out the competition. I'd much rather drive or line up next to a Mustang than a Honda.

Looks just like the cobra, GT and Bullit to me. Everyone of those look exactly the same other than a different set of wheels or hood? Or am I just missing something?

I'm a fan of the Fox style LX and the newer mustangs, (not 94-98) but I don't see the huge difference here?

Old cars in stock form arent ALL as quick as they seem. I mean I love them, Not sure if its true but I have heard from more then one person that the 99+ GT's are actually quicker then the old GT 500's. Now mod a GT500, or any other old car and its a different story.
