different headlight motor question

ok, i need to replace the headlight motor in my 87 gta, but i have a different problem. the light doesnt go up when turning on the swith, so i tried to raise it manually. but it didnt go up maually either. i twisted and turned, and no avail. my question is now how do i get to the 4 screws to remove the headlight assembly? do i have to remove the front facia? i sure hope not....any help would be nice so i dont have to dive in blindly. it is the pass. side if it makes any difference.

thanks, Brad

Well your gear is probably stripped to the point where it's not "grabbing" - did you try to pull up on the headlight assembly while spinning the manual control? That's what I had to do to raise mine...

i tried thats. what was happening was the motor was makeing a grinding sound kinda....then i would try to "assist" the light up but to no avail. then i decided to take the motor apart while on the car....big mistake. i took things apart, but then i couldnt get them together again...oops. my luck i will have to take the farking facia off to get to the screws.
