Hood Blister???

Ok, a couple of questions here, First will 91-92 hood blisters fit my 91 hood, do they just bolt/glue on and if so when I buy the hood blisters will there be a diagram that gives me measurements for me to put them in the right spot or does it leave it up to you to put them anywhere you want? Next question, has anyone made them functional? I was thinking of cutting a hole threw the hood right under the blister and inserting a breathable grill in place of that plastic peace at the end of it makeing it a sort of cowl induction. If this is possible then I would think this would be a sweet mod to the induction syestem. It's probably a way out there question but it's been on my mind so any input would be nice, thanks.

Not a bolt on with factory blisters. there is a company that makes the ones for the flat hood. The factory ones fit into depressions in the hood they will fit on either an iroc or a 91-92 Z hood there is no difference. Nobody has made them functional because tpi wouldn't work very well with that setup if you want cowl induction a cowl hood will work better and have less modifications and it may be cheaper.

Makes sense when it's tpi, I should of asked if there were tbi'ers out there with this mod because I would be doing this to my tbi car So who is this company your talking about? Are the hood blisters more expensive for the flat hood ? should I just swap out with an iroc hood and then do the convershion?

I have bought a pair of those blisters myself. My car is a 1990. My mechanic told me that the hoods for 1991-1992 were made for them, but my hood can just as easily be modified for them. Mine have I think 4 stubs sticking out under each blister. As far as aligning them, my hood, under the fire protecting stuff, there is the cut out for the INSET louvers from the older IROCS. The blisters go in the same place as the inset black louvers would. But as far as it being possible I was told it was. And I have never seen or heard about the ones made for the flat hood, but I already have the other ones, so that's probably what I'll go with. Not sure if I helped much, but that's what I know!

GT Auto Accessories (link at the top of page) is in the process of making the blisters for a regular hood. Doug

I have a set of blisters mounted on a 86 Z28 hood. They fit and look fine.

Thanks for the replys, it will be instresting to see the hood blisters GTA Auto Accessories will come out with! If they look good I might buy them instead of a whole new hood! I made up my mind that I will do the cut out and make the hood blister functional if at all possible, so im sure ya'll will hear some sort of update on this.

You can make the blisters functional to a degree. I plan on doing this. Basically you cut out the one area and replace it with a screen. You cut holes in the hood under the blisters so air can escape up and out of the engine bay. Not sure how much air it pushes out but if you want to keep the blister look it hurt any.

I just talked to lbsz28blown and he did this mod. Go to his site below and he has pics on the blisters and the holes in hood. As well as one sweet ride. one of my favs.
