Cutting A Hole In The Hood

I just put the new motor in my car and the air cleaner is about 3 inches past where the hood is, so im going to cut a hole in it. I was wonering if anyone has any ideas on how to make the hole look clean. What kind of a tool should i use to cut it. I think it would look pretty kool with the air cleaner sticking out of the hood. The car is not driven in the rain, and is grarged all the time so i dont have to worry about the water getting in it.

Have you though about one of those butterfly things (brainfart can't think of name) I think that would look so much better then the round air cleaner. Plus people wil think you are blown. Damn makes me want to upgrade to a 6-71 or 8-71 and chop my hood. My preference will be ditch the stock air cleaner and get one of those butterfly things from Jegs or Summit. I'm sure you can get them elsewhere.

Get ypu a jig saw and a good metal blade. Mask it off to keep the paint from chipping as your cuting it. Find where the center of your air cleaner hits the hood and drill a hole in the center. Work from the hole with a peice of string to get it perfectly round. This was just going to be a temperary thing for me while I was waiting on GTAUTO to finish up the Jongblood hood but its beigings to fill permanant. LOL

I used a pneumatic cut off wheel to cut mine. Just make sure you measure it out a few times before you cut. I had to make extra room for clearance as well.
