Interior Information on parts
Interior Information on parts
Hello everyone.
I’m pretty happy with most of my interior parts but the passenger seatbelt guide both on the seat and on the roof had come loose, the Seatbelt guide on the seat was broke and glued together, and the roof one had its tabs broke and was glued to the roof.
Those parts are red like the rest of the interior.
The black plastic piece (no Idea how its called) that goes from the end of the door (on the passenger side also) to the roof have its tabs broken and its very loose, How is this piece called?
The radio trim plate is in normal condition but some of the screws that are used to fasten it are isolated, I don’t want to glue anything, what are my options beside purchasing a new lower center console? Find bigger screws?
The center console glove box is in pretty bad condition (it already was in December when I bayed my car, and the fact that I used to put my weight in to it when I entered the car didn’t help) its plastic is all cracked. I want to know if used ones are in really good condition or its best to buy it new.
It is normal that my sun visors keep falling on its own weight, can I fasten the bolts more? Or I would need new ones?
On the exterior I want to purchase the parking lights and front turn signals (white ones) and put H4 conversion driving lights, had anyone tried those conversions in this forum?
The front air dam it’s pretty damaged, it’s made of plastic no? How is repaired?
As my car sit a little lower than normal because the last owner changed the wheel and tire size without respecting the outer tire diameter the air dam tend to touch the pavement on ramps and on speed bumps.
What should I do, if I repair it or replace it with a new one I will damage it with time even if I’m careful, but I don’t want to make the front of the car to tall as it will look pretty bad. There is any after market air dam that allow for a little more ground clearance?
I want to replace my RS grille with a Z28 one; there is anything I should know before I do it.
Sorry for the long post.
I hope someone could help me with the first ones.

Whoa, thats a lot of questions for one post. Most of the interior parts you want are alvailable from one of the sponsers, click thier links at the top of the page. Or you can hit your local junk yards.
As for the nose, you can't really repair it because bondo and stuff won't stick. You just need to learn to drive more carefully.

As for the front facia, You have baskcally 3 options
1) leave it alone, and paint it
2) Get another facia in good form
3) there is some stuff that works like "bondo" for the rubber parts, not sure on the name, but I have used it. its like a rubbery epoxy stuff. That might help solve your problem.
hope that helps.

Thanks for the repplys
Thanks for the front facia tips, it would help me a lot if someone can recall the name of the product (the bondo like one).
I would really like to first repair the interior, as I look much more at it than the exterior.
I would need to know how to buy the seatbelts guides, Its what is called seatbelt assembly? Or that would include only the mechanism?
The Black piece in the interior picture how its called?
The original owner of my car changed the headliner and I think he broke some of the interior pieces because he dident know how to disassemble everything.
The other thing the front grille, can I just put a Z28 one in place of the RS one with no modifications?
About me having to drive more carefully althought I know I could drive more slow you dont have any idea how much potholes we have here, and about finding a 3trd gen car on a junkjard thats pretty difficult, if I travel this year to USA I will visit some junkjards to find some pieces, like 4th gen seats, and some other big stuffs, but for small pieces I preffer mail delivery.

What kind of plastic
Is the front bumper cover and spoiler made of the same material?
I wish to know if I could use the PlastiFix product to repair both but the site said that it dont work in PE Polyethylene or PP Polypropylene.
I have no experience at all with doing this kind of work and I hope to get some pointers, or where I could get some tips on how to do this kind of job.
Thanks

Not sure why you mentioned polyethylene or polypropylene... the front bumper cover is made of urethane. I used the Bondo "flexible bumper repair kit" to fill some holes and fix some tears on my bumpers; the stuff worked great. Cost me $5 from Strauss Auto; if it's still available (especially thru the bondo site), it's worth it. Works just like epoxy (two tubes), and I hear that's what real body shops use, a two part epoxy.
That piece for the seatbelt will be a pain. As you can see, it's sealed around the belt. I took one from my parts car by prying it off the headliner, and then using a razor blade to contiuously slice away at the plastic, from teh "back" of the piece.
I finally cut a slit in the piece, and worked it off the seatbelt. The slit was in such a position so that nobody can see it- AND, by starting the slit from the back, it made the outside of the piece look very clean. JUST WEAR THICK GLOVES!! You DON'T want that razor blade to slice thru your hand!!!!!

Thanks for the name of the product.
I will see if I can find it here couse as you can see I´m on another country.
Also I appreciate the help about the seatbelt piece, after a good look I´m not shure if it have its tabs broken or that I dont have any Idea how to put the damm thing in its place.
I dident pull the thing out of its place but aparently the last owner that put a new headliner on my car broke it or dident know how to put it back and just glued the piece to the Headliner!
Damm I want realy badly to put my car in good condition but I need to be patiente as I dont have the kind of money a full restoration needs.
Anyone have any Idea if our cars where sell in spain, there is any registry of those cars anywhere? If so, anyone have any Idea how much they ask for them there?
I will move to Spain next year and I dont think I will move my car as they have all sort of inspections there, and I dont think my car could pass. (And Shiping it would cost me nearly 8.000$$)
Thanks again.
